Allow Tridents to be used as trade hub

er, no, wtf do you mean by a 'trade hub'. I have no idea what that is.

Purchase and sale of items between the owner of the trident and players allowed to dock.

Sure, it can be done now by the drop & pay method, but I'd like to see players able to browse an inventory and select items they want at the price the owner is willing to sell them for, and be able to sell desired items directly from their ships inventory.

I can see this as useful for the purchase of ores, ship add ons and rare or manufactured items.

They're vessels of war, not grocery stores or flea markets.

+1 they are anything their owners want them to be

oh god? you want to do this with 600cu of product? that's a completely minor minor minor use.

Capital ship owners should be able to set prices on goods as well as their RR services.

TRS just because YOU dont want to use it that way, why should the other owners have to use them the way you want to?

Because, with 600 cu of cargo space... it isn't worth the time the Devs would have to put into it you halfwit.

He's not the only one. I think this would be a waste of time to make. Really the stations should be able to buy/sell limited quantities of stuff before capships do.

...as well as their RR services.
This you can already do by charging for keys. Though, maybe having a separate permission for docking vs repair/reload and turret access might be useful once the key system doesn't suck.

They really aren't. Tridents armaments suck. At the moment they're best used as big heavily armored trucks.

Not quite Arf. Charging for a key is like charging a membership fee and then allowing free access for members, as opposed to a per-use fee. You could manually revoke their key immediately after they undock, and even make a plugin to automate all this, but it's stupid, and it doesn't take into account value of the items being reloaded (even though it's all free to the Trident pilot, a customer is likely willing to pay more to get a cheaper-than-station in-sector reload of his avalons or TU mines than he would for a sunflare).

As for capship shops: stations don't explode, but capships do.

Yes, it's only 600 cube. But to be fair, that's still 3 XC loads. And really the real benefit would come when there is actually meaningful scarcity in VO.

Setting up Tridents as trade hubs allows players to make transactions when the player possessing the desired goods is not active. These could be inguild transactions or general public transactions. Imagine a shop set up where you could buy that Superlight kit any time? Or buy the pre made widowmakers for, oh what did I used to pay? I know Scar Shop wasn't cheap so it had to be 500,000cr or better. How about the player who wants AAP's but needs an alt or friendly to bring them?

At any rate, perhaps this would be a minor use. But it would be a reason for which I would seriously consider going through the hassle of building one. I certainly wouldn't do it for military purposes or to help folks transport goods for a fee because I prefer playing solo. As to the amount of work required, that's something the dev's would have to evaluate.

But then, if you didn't like this suggestion, you won't like my next one which would be to create a bar on the Tridents that allow players to create gaming programs kind of like Breazle had up at one point.

Fluffy, there's already a "Ship Comm" chat that's equivalent to the station bar. Have you ever even docked on a player's Trident?
Sep 11, 2012 TheRedSpy link
That ship comm is actually broken ARF, have you tried to use it? I could never get it to work, it seemed to be the ship comm of the last station you visited, m7 for the pilot and wherever else for the passenger.

and yeah, what Ryan said pretty much sums up my feelings towards it, but to expand on the point here is a list of things that need to occur before such an feature would be remotely useful:

- Proper trade scarcity; and
- Gat prices and other trade good prices would need to be fixed
- More Trident stations and/or a way to dock (to load the goods)
- Real remote destinations (i.e. somewhere to actually sell the goods)

The top two because currently the associated assing around getting goods out to a trident and transporting them to a location is better spent hauling gats or doing other trade. Even if you 'prefer flying solo' the fact is with the current restrictions on the way tridents operate there is no way to fly solo with a trident as you will need somebody to load your 600cu.

I actually agree that the price for a repair/reload in a trident should be able to be set by a pilot and the money be credited to their account, but I would never suggest it before any of the above + shields, capgauss, docking, variants and just about any of the other features that new players think they're getting with player tridents but don't.

+1 as allways... been requested before and remains a great idea.

And players' tridents are NOT the unbeatable capships of war... indeed, they're really larger moths, as I keep saying since way before it was implemented, thus, a perfect fit for a mobile shop-in-a-ship, or flying mall.

And it is also a proper step toward making capships the home of Guilds... too bad guilds deserve no love from Guild Sw...

Maybe an interesting workaround for that would be create an account with the guild name, thus making possible to share that Trident... This deserve a topic!
