Give us (more) confined battlespaces!

I meant to add this as a suggestion a while ago but forgot about it. Having confined spaces to fight in is something that would really enhance gameplay in VO. Here's a video example of why, this is a game that Neon Black came up with to play at the conquerable station in latos m7 and it's heaps and heaps of fun:

Even if we just had the same model with a roof on top to restrict height as an arena, it would be really cool for events. Ideally though I'd like to see a big hollow asteroid with mining shafts and such where people can go for mining that encourages mining/piracy combat in a confined space. Fantastic gameplay just waiting to occur!

Nice. There is one hollow roid with a station in it in DAU G11 and Verasi I5, but they are NFZ so no fun for this type of event. The areana rocks. This next NW should be there....

Erm... you want to play descent n+1? or CS? or UT? Those are about confined spaces. But maybe I'm wrong.

There's a bunch of hollow roids with holes in them you can fight inside. Last time I mentioned it on ch100 I got ridiculed for months.

Ironically, Ray and I were just talking about this an hour or so ago (without either of us having read this thread).

I avoided enclosed spaces back when we were creating most of the universe content, due to limitations and known issues we had in our physics and collision engine (wingbug, other infamous stuff).

Over the last few weeks, Ray has been re-tooling the physics and collision systems to scale better across many cores and give improved performance. As part of that, he's run across a number of different bugs, which we've fixed but without being entirely clear on what they're going to improve.

So, the upshot of this may be that we end up in a much better place, technologically, to offer enclosed and claustrophobic combat areas.

Add onto that my existing intentions to make common asteroid fields that are a hell of a lot denser than anything we have to date (which also requires some work on the server), I think this could really make our environments that much more interesting.

Hopefully those changes fix the NPC lag around roids too. Border Skirmishes in the ice fields would be *awesome* :D
