Different Deneb objectives
Anyone here who has played the X-Wing series games.... Remember all the awesome objectives you had to play through, like "punch through hordes of TIE fighters and destroy this Interdictor so whatever's left of your raggedy fleet can escape"?
Why not have something like that for Deneb? Straight-up blowing stuff up kinda gets boring sometimes (at least for me) and I feel a few extra "dimensions" for that sort of thing wouldn't hurt. These would take place in the ice fields and not affect the overall Deneb score, but give advantages (see end of post).
A few ideas for objectives. Either side would be allowed to sign up for these:
"A HAC/Connie/Teradon/Trident loaded with special prototype interdiction technology has trapped our fleet. The technology is only advanced enough to affect capital ships. Either destroy the interdictor or hold off the opposing force long enough for their crews to abandon ship." // "Our inderdictor has trapped an enemy fleet. Defend it until our Ragnaroks and Teradons can arrive and dispatch them."
"An enemy HAC/Connie/Trident is carrying several prisoners. Disable its shields so our Behemoth can dock and rescue them. Afterwards, escort the Behemoth to safety. Do not destroy the ship until our Behemoth has departed." // "Our enemy has located our prison ship and are attempting a rescue. Do not allow them to succeed."
"A spy with valuable information on enemy troop movements has been compromised. Escort him back to our HAC/Connie/Trident." // "An enemy spy has been detected. Destroy him before he can escape."
and so on and so forth
Possible incentives would be a very large credit sum (owing to the fact that these are higher-class "black ops" missions and as such are more dangerous), access to new ships, and/or various subtle advantages in the sector capture battles (more numbers on your side if you rescue prisoners, more cappies if you destroy the interdictor, better cappie placement if you rescue the spy, etc.).

X-wing was the coolest game for its time. Best space sim. Freespace 2 did a good job as well.
^Interdiction idea.. sounds familiar...and awesome.
^Prisoner ship, docking with prisoners/crew... awesome.
I do think passenger transport is a worthy addition.
^ Repercussions of your efforts.. sounds good, how hard is it to implement?
Time to join up the PCC and make some missions (or for guild to take some of these subscription dollars and hire someone who is great at making PCC stuff as a mission builder).
my 2 cents.

I played X-wing, and I agree it set up some pretty cool battles with interesting objectives. This is exactly the type of thing I am trying to accomplish through the PCC. If there is context to the player's actions, they carry that much more depth, etc.
Some good ideas you have here.

if we got group missions in the PCC, this would be easy, without them though it's near impossible.
+1 Yeah we need more/interesting stuff in Deneb.

Another possible and interesting alternative objective in Deneb: Logistic War
I tried, but not possible to implement in PCC, we cannot request weapons, neither order to deliver to capships.
*Logistic Missions in Deneb requires deployment of specific goods, to both stations and capships
-Weapons, ammo, Food, medical supplies
-Repairs components (inc. capship parts)
-Rare items from grayspace: Chocs, spices, fine food, etc
-> This also justifies the increase of Privateering, and UIT participation in Deneb... And creates "long convoys", departing from grayspace and crossing into Deneb.
