Locking Threads...

Aug 27, 2012 ryan reign link
Example 1:
Nahin: Yer an idiot cause you don't agree!

Ryan: You should be saved sterilized and destroyed!

and on and on...

Nothing more will be accomplished, lock it up.

Example 2:
Thread necro to show a newb the idea he posted exists which gives the opportunity for more feedback from new players... etc... etc...

no reason to lock it.

You'd think being a mod, you'd of learned all this in Mod School.

All I can say is... lulz..

The simple irony here is that this thread about locking threads will most assuredly be locked.

Honestly... I'm surprised it hasn't been deleted.

But... give an opinion or make a commentary on the subject! Lets not give our cruel over lords any reason to lock it!

Επανάσταση!

In light of recent developments...

I feel compelled to also include, cases where newbs necro and delete their post. Also to the newbs, don't delete just cause it's old... if you have an opinion, the Devs do want to hear it and despite what some folk will say... necroing a thread wastes less space than re-posting a previously posted idea.

As long as it's a meaningful post, not just a "Me too!" on a thread that has been dead for half a decade.

As Pizzasgood implies and ryan states: digging up threads from the past without adding anything to them is commonly called "thread necromancy" (actually, just digging them up period would be). It's not a nice(tm) practice, and is seldom tolerated on other boards. Granted, things are a little different around here, but take a minute and read through the PLEASE READ PRIOR TO POSTING A SUGGESTION thread:

It states,

If there is already an old thread about landing on planets, create a "New Landing-On-Planets Thread" thread and link to the old thread in the very first post. Cover whatever new ground you want to discuss in the new thread. As a general guideline, if a thread is older than a year, make a new thread that references it rather than posting to the old thread.

This seems pretty clear to me.

Also note that I left the other thread from 2008 (rauuugh!) open for now, as it did have some new substantive posts.

Sorry for being a thread necro. partly due to my n00bness.
I did consider going to page 306 and finding the oldest post from 2003 to revive... but figured it would make me KOS but a few more in the game...
