That is the privilege reserved for the behemoth heavy miner mk II. Built in scanners are something you only see on ships that cost > 100k to buy. There's tons of reasons why it should be reserved for the higher mining vessels.

Does this stuff need to be completely reevaluated? yes. But given what's already there, I don't see a reason just to give the mineral maud an inbuilt scanner.

You forget about the Warthog Mineral Miner, which packs a built-in scanner too.

Before Behemoths were in existence, Marauders were the premier mining vessel, and they aren't any less capable now than they were back then. Why shouldn't a dedicated mining ship have a built-in mineral scanner?

If we were talking about a scanner with 1000m range, I'd agree about reserving it for ships in the same league as the BHM2, but surely there's no harm in adding a rudimentary 500m built-in scanner for the Mineral Maud.

Wait, you can MINE in a TungMaud? I just use mine for farming SSS. No need for a scanner there.

Well there needs to be a certain level of exclusivity to justify the effort of Basic Miner 3.

Also that's pretty rich coming from you.

If you want a free scanner, make it 200m :)
1000m is far too long for the class of ship.
