Here I go turning this lame suggestion into an incredibly awesome one:

Make a badge that requires deneb participation the key to unlocking proms/valks for the respective races. So it's not enough to join the military to get a prom or a valk, you have to put in a certain level of service. Theres a developmentally simple fix for a really annoying problem that will turn all the so-called 'pirates' into either nationalists, or actual pirates, and fix just bizzare scenarios where people who wouldnt possibly be given the national military ship are able to get it.

I realise you might think you're restricting content here, but what's actually happening is promoting meaningful roles. It's a similar justification to the faction redux, people will complain but it's the right call.

To mean anything it would have to be a badge that goes away when you stop participating. After all, I have been a member of the Itani Military for years.

Realistically yes, but I would draw the boundary between game and reality there. You can't but the valk anyway due to its standing requirements, and if your standing requirements are fine with Itani, why would they care that you're a pirate in your spare time anyway? what you actually are is a privateer for the Itani nation.

For that matter.. I am a member of the Itani military.. lol

Just because you did some hauling work for the Itani a long time ago and that put you in good standing with the trade guild doesn't mean you're a privateer for the Itani nation. You'd kind of have to shoot up some Serco convoys and do shady combat work for them to be that.

Make it a one-time badge requirement, and make joining the military temporary and require weekly(?) service in Deneb to maintain. No penalty(*) for dropping out, just no valks/proms until you get up to Deneb.

or, how about we just get some damn badges without over thinking it too much? There are stats, so there should be badges, plain and simple.

Hi. We are working on new badges and things. I've had the intern on that stuff for awhile now.

I'm also onboard with the idea of military-specific ships that require some relatively recent amount of service in order to justify access. At the very least, things like the SkyCommand and the high-end Valkyries were always intended to be somewhat exclusive, nation-oriented ships that would only be available to those fighting on behalf of their respective homelands. So, this would fit well, and I agree it would upset some people, but would be better for the game overall.

But all that aside, yes, we need more badges for the different stats. And we are working on that.

Signing up for either Itani or Serco Military should be enough to grant you access to either Sky Proms, Serco Vulture Guards, X-1 and IDF Valks respectively.

But i like the idea of having to re-new your allegiance to your nation by actually taking part in Border Skirmishes.

or, once you complete a border skirmish you would be allocated a certain number of elite class fighters. (As the nations are at war and the higher end ships are in the highest demand. (We can't even build connies or teradon's for ourselves!))

Might help make grey a bit more dangerous for non-pirates as you wouldn't have your elite ship available all the time.

Maybe the number of ships available could depend on who wins the border skirmishes.
