PLS Make the Game with a Language Selection,im from Germany and its Disgusting to Translate every Mission Instruction to other Team Mates or New Members who we want to Play With

I don't think the missions are actually translated. GS should extract the mission text's and offer a bounty for their translation to the player base. Maybe a few hundred dollars or even a game subscription. Cheap way to get it translated by our community.

+1 to translating, but having in-game people translate not so sure about. People need to be vetted... last thing we need is a practical joke being played on users cloaked in a mistranslation.

Come on, own up, who was it that pirated the latest Babel fish shipment?

But seriously, +1

This has been discussed in the past. There are two things holding up such an endeavor. Resources, and the fact that the game doesn't support special characters at present. Now that GS has an artist on staff again, there's a chance we may be able to get the font updated/replaced, but that still leaves the issue of resources for translating all of the content.

Also note that while Lua strings can support unicode (UTF-8), its string library and other functions such as the length operator don't play nice with it.

We have plans for localization, but there's some work that needs to happen first. Expanding the font is not difficult. Changing the font-rendering system to handle a variety of non-latin characters is a bit more of an ordeal. We'll be doing this, it's just a lower priority than some other items.

Unicode can be a huge headache. :)

+1 again, as allways.

We had a few efforts on that direction. I translated most of user manual to portughese, on VO-WIki.

But we, community and voluntary translators, are entirely dependent on GS to do anything in-game.

On fonts front, 99.9% of languages using Latin alphabet can be represented using ASCII-127 (7-bit), like "ação" can be read as "acao". Not the most elegant solution, but a good start we can live with some time. Better than 'english-only'. Of course UTF-8 would be great, even allow GTS to be coded as text.
(Despite I prefer that game could translate GTS to latin chars)

Also, I asked before, make the "language channels" more visible, with a simple "/join list" listing what goes where, AND asking player for his spoken/favourite languages during account creation, and joining him properly to non-english public channels...

Auto-joining language channels should only be done if there is a clear explanation given in those languages that English questions can be asked on channels 1 and 100.

if someone states that only speaks chinese, or arcaic venusian, join him to that channel INSTEAD of /100... while later he may join 100 if he learns how to.

Then we rename /100 as "English Public Channel" on channel lists. Each major language gets its own "LangName Public channel". And we're covered on all fronts.

about /1, I disagree, should be kept default even if becomes a babel.

There aren't enough players to support active channels dedicated to specific languages. Chat fragmentation is often a bad thing.

Oh please. We need dedicated channels just for Kopia Onol and sky hawk.

sky hawk should join the "I think my English is fine, maybe you natives need to learn my ways" channel.
