Kills
Really, what i'm suggesting is simple. In hive skirmishes, the npcs keep stealing my kills. Why not make the npcs engage their own targets and program them not to attack the bots attacking you?
I'll be relatively nice about this before Dr. Lecter comes in.
You're obviously a newb. If the bots are getting killed by other bots, kill them faster. It's really easy and eventually it will stop bothering you. For the moment, try killing some bots in just a standard bot sector like arklans. If you can manage to kill arklans, you will be able to killsteal from bots easily if you ask me.

Another thing you could try is moving to another area of the battle. It does take some practice to do well in a Skirmish.
I'm not saying i suck at skirmishes.
They're not saying you do. They're just giving you advice and telling you to practice.
This sort of thing happens to everyone before they get the hang of the game.

Neither are we; just that the npcs tend to behave in a certain way, and have been for a long time. It will probably change at some point. However there are some advantages to having the npcs go after bots that are engaging you that you may not have considered; I've been saved by an npc wingman that took out a bot that would have otherwise blindsided me on more than one occasion.
At any rate, the OP's skill / experience is irregardless to the topic. Welcome to VO, thanks for the suggestion.

I think you meant "irrelevant". "Irregardless" is not a word. ;)
I disagree with the OP. NPCs should attempt to assist the player, not treat him like a pariah. The objective of a skirmish is to win, not to maximize your own kills. That might be your personal goal, but it is not the actual objective of the mission. Normally human members of a team are going to be the most effective, so it makes perfect sense if the NPCs attempt to aid the human players rather than leaving them on their own.
If you want to place your own goals ahead of the mission, you have to accept that the mission may not cooperate.
Though one thing that has been asked for several times is the ability to give the NPCs commands, which would allow you to be an egomaniac if you wanted. I'm all for that. But without player commands, the NPCs should default to being helpful rather than unhelpful.

The devs already fixed this when they added kill-assists and proportional XP credit. Kill bots faster!

Don't worry, the NPCs steal kills from me too :) ARF is correct and that change helped a lot.

The NPC kill steals are an annoyance, to be sure. But once you and your gear suck less, it will become a non-issue. You dumb newb.*
*: There, happy TRS?

You had it at "once you and your gear suck less" lol
heh, NPC's still manage to steal kills sometimes its a nuisance but not a big pain in the ass.
