How to make CtC awesome in 5 devminutes

Jun 03, 2012 TheRedSpy link
Financial Rewards x200

Add Avalon Torpedoes purchasable in Helios and Pelatus (depending on winner)

Add Proms and Valks to the list of things restricted (i.e. these ships require purified xith to produce, just like N3's)

Or in the alternative, make only Skyprom Variant and X1/Vigilant Variants restricted

Or further and in the alternative make these restrictions only apply to Initros and Jallik (frownface if you choose this one)

Instant awesome fun, +100000 buff to Nationalism, and we all have funtimes.

P.S. If you do this I will *never* whine about shields again!

And the uit who dont participate in ctc?

I am not disagreeing with the suggestion, Overall I like it.
I think n3 needs a beef up and be restricted a lot more as well.
The skyprom and x1 should be restricted to military only - I am not sure a ctc restriction is ideal except maybe to limit production....

Someone will whine about shields....no real value there.

The natural imbalance in CTC needs to be addressed before it starts really mattering whether you win or lose. Currently Serco players have an advantage due to the fact that they have several accessable travel routes from Sedina to Pyronis, whereas Itani only really have one viable route from Bractus to Divinia. This means Itani have several chokepoints that the Serco don't have.
The imbalance isn't too noticeable currently, but only because the majority of ships participating are bots rather than players, and bots will only ever take one route.

Wait, the ITANI are disadvantaged?

Pretty much everyone I ever talked to said the Serco had the disadvantage. Their convoy passes through the most popular part of grey space (which leads to it being destroyed all the time), it also has an extra system on its journey.

The numerous ways to get back to serco space are small compared to those two...

EDIT:

Also, if the itani wait to hit the convoy in Latos or Ukari, serco defenders have the same problem with routes back to itani space.

At least with the itani convoy, you can recapture.

As Machiavelli pointed out, the harder to take, the easier to keep. and vice versa.

when i went to school 5 was the same amount despite your race

Let me rephrase:

Their convoy passes through an extra Greyspace system. Thus it is vulnerable for an additional system.

PaKettle: The UIT that don't participate will be bound by the outcome of CtC i.e. whether or not they will be able to buy the restricted items that week. That is the price of remaining neutral in the Serco/Itani war.

Slime: No it doesn't, and screw you for suggesting it does. The imbalance is deneb is far more annoying than the extra wormhole for ctc which you seemed to blockade quite effectively last night even as a solo player. That might not be the point, but the suggestion is how to make it awesome in 5 devminutes, not how to make it balanced in 5 devminutes. Using the helios route exposes you to another greyspace system which is a disadvantage, it's not a gamebreaking one. Fixing an imbalance like that will take devweeks, screw it. Just make it awesome for now and fix the balance on normal schedule so at least people get involved in it and we have something to do in greyspace besides shoot people.

Shape: I dont think it does pass through an extra greyspace system. But either way, pretending we're going to achieve balance here without a major overhaul is laughable. Valks are outrageously more popular than proms, start restricting them based on CtC and people are going to get involved in order to get their valks back. Who cares! It's largely unused content at the moment and it doesn't have to be that way, even the financial reward buff ALONE would significantly improve playability.

the only reason ctc is fun is because it's a competition between serco and itani -- the n3's are insignificant (smart people just stock up when they are available for times when they are not). Likewise, adding restrictions on other items pending the outcome of ctc will have the same insignificance.

Avalons are fine the way they are, we shouldn't be able to buy them from stations.

Sure there are tweaks that could be made to ctc, but the original post of this thread is not the way to do it.

While I am all for getting content in game even if it is slightly broken Simply tossing stuff in that will change the overall balance of things with no plan to set the balance right again is a bad idea.

Not a turd but just not the bright shiney ball we are looking for....

Firstly, the devs have planned to make avalons purchaseable already.

Secondly, the plan is apparently to eventually remove CtC, so that covers that part.

All I'm saying is while it remains in game, at the very least, the financial rewards should be x200 to make it a worthwhile activity for everyone.

Wait, it goes Ukari-Initros?

Been too damn long, I was sure It went to pyronis through helios.

I just know it goes through Sedina B-8, and during Friday and Saturday it likes to leave a dozen Serco bots hanging around waiting for me to show up so they can gank me. That's my favorite part of CTC :)

An increase in the monitary payout Is quite agreeable +200 to that.
Jun 05, 2012 abortretryfail link
+1 Yes to increase payout. Make it worth losing a couple of ships to fly halfway across the galaxy for some cargo you can't dock anywhere with.
