Target of target
Simply put, a function that can be used to show the target of the currently targeted ship. I think it'd be helpful to know who another pilot is targeting, or being able to switch to a teammates target without having them use the "target" plugin that broadcasts it to group chat, which is a more roundabout way of achieving the same means. Also could be helpful to pass on the location of roids or loot by targeting them and allowing the other person to use this function to find it easily.
There are simple binds that players create that allow them to share target information with members of their group. Check the Community Projects forum or the VO wiki for a number of binds and plugins that may enhance your game experience.
+1 as long as this functionality is limited to group members.
I think I would prefer to know if someone was targeting me ?
Why not a (being targetted) plugin of course this could get old especially when people hit x for closest enemy all the time you would be targeted for being close and nothing more and you don't really want that to keep broadcasting all the time especially in furball imagine all the alerts or messages this would produce lol
tough one

Why on earth would my ship's targeting computer broadcast to my enemy that i'm targeting them? You already get a warning from missile locks.
I think the idea is that focusing your targeting equipment on somebody is like shining a flashlight on them. But, this is the year 4440 and we can track scores of people with no need to focus on one to improve data precision. Silly Earthlings.
It might also be influenced by certain games which show you who is targeting you.
Anyways, -1 to Captain86. +1 to Rejected, but limit it to guild as well as group.

This has been suggested numerous times but I still give it a +1. For any flight sim/combat game, we need the following bare minimum:
-Attack my target
-Defend my target
-Cover me (or) Need assistance (prompts you to target the last target that damaged whoever sent the request)
You can go much further, but those are the basics.

A system built for wingmen would be excellent, you can basically "loan out" your targeting to your teammate. Set it up as a toggle and they will choose all targets while it's on

+1 to enhancing group "quick orders" as Ghost proposes.
Since limited reach, can be offered as command line options, that we can bind to keys.
This can issue the corresponding message to group/guild, and also control pet bots & NPCs in missions.
But I'm no expert in binding, but I think that can be implemented as of now, with aliases/binds. Who can write that?
raw draft:
/alias gr_A groupsay "attack %target%"
/alias gr_D groupsay "defend %target%"
/alias gr_M groupsay "defend me"
/alias gr_F groupsay "Close formation on me now"
and extend to guilds
