Rin wins thread.
I like your idea Rin with one exception.
No access through Odia. Let these be accessed through Deneb only. Put a Conc Station on top of the wormhole which requires ownership to access. I'm talking about a bloody fortress because it's there in large part to keep those bastards out of civilized space.
As you said, resource rich. The existing stations, which exist only in Cratesum and Monsticus are beleaguered and prone to fog / ion storms as well as infestation by hostile bots as you've described. Closetos and Candyna have no station support, but obviously have the best loot, which is best gotten by teams with Tridents for repair / reload functions.
Also with this, allow docked ships to drop their cargo into the Trident's hold. And not really sure how this works, but make gunner positions on Trident's not dependent on having someone docked with the ship (this could really just be a demonstration of my ignorance). Allow an empty Trident to hold 10 ships. 6 warships and 4 behemoth haulers. The warships can ride in and deploy when threatened or the destination has been reached. They should then provide escort for the return trip.
Edit: These systems need to have items critical to the Serco / Itani conflict as well as highly valuable trade items.

So, it seems some of you detest the mapping, it doesn't suit your desires? Oh, what a shame.
Love Rin's Map, I'm cool with Surbius's too... but Rin hits at the heart of the issue.
I don't think making it a pain to cross is at all necessary though. Arbitrarily creating travel headaches seems like a terrible idea as far as generating "fun".
If it stays grey, and it's trafficked regularly, it will attract its own dangers.
And none of this "No entering from Odia" nonsense, Deneb is a bloody warzone.

Deneb is a bloody joke. Just look at the weekly stats. Participation is so skewed it's embarrassing. The only real conflict currently is FAMY vs everyone else. Why not put something worth fighting for up there?
Also, while it makes a certain sense that nation space should have continuity, there is no reason to assume that all of Grey be connected.

Cool map Rin.
Instead of a lot of roids everywhere why not a roid map reset (moving roids and using ion storm to mask it) every two hours, making ye have to scout to find a safe route.
-1 fer any conq station controlling system access, tis not to player base to decide who can access systems. (Noobs couldnt pass the turrets, or non aligned single player couldnt smuggle goods)
On crafting:
Why not a refinery badge, the more ore ye refine the more efficient ye get. (grinders need sumethin' to do)
Why not a craftin' license? Items allowed to be crafted could be dependent on it (also a badge on craftin' addons could allow ye to lower equipment requirements or get new receipes)

+1 to Rin's awesome map.
I wonder if shape payed enough attention to get the closet monsters joke, though.
Are closet monsters a thing?
It's the Allohtonian victory principle.
+50 on rins map, i serieusly love the idea of making odia more active + drawing players into deneb
+5 on TRS cert of ownership ( perfect solution to the trade problem ) but i'm not sure if this will not create problems for cargo scans etc.

Lecter: Awesome
I just wish Tumble had linked to Alloh's original post.

Some quite possible improvement, very easy to implement:
1) Pirates do not state price on hail. And deal a price compatible with pilot/ship/cargo. If Im newbie, poor, on a empty 3Kc and a pirate asks me 100Kc, there is no talking possible... 100Kc is nothing to a veteran, but a fortune to a newbie!
2) Slightly change on tutorials, to repeat many times that gray is dangerous, and why. Crate some monsters on closet. But that's where candies are.
3) A new obligatory tutorial that every newbie should take before allowed trade 1 license is a pirate handling tutorials, like three steps mission, spawning a bot as simulated pirate. On 1st pilot must PAY, second must EVADE, third must KILL. A smarter bot, but with training lasers.
I am working on a mission like this... And make very clear, this was a bot to simulate, next, will be a real pilot. And some text explaining how to join convoys and require escorts.
--> More complex ones:
4) Adding guild to name also would help, as suggested.
5) Non-lethal piracy scheme (disable/etc), as suggested.

I find your suggestion fascinating; please, tell me more.

+1 to Rin's map.
The problem with space currently is not that there is too much or little, but that if usage increased, the sectors would become impassable. Imagine if there were 30 active nationalists on each side, imagine if there were 30 active pirates.

+1 for Pizzasgood new sectors /map ....
