Make the gat turret a drop item only
It's a common enough drop. Why not take it off the market and let folks collect them for use?

I will say a big reason that I 1+'ed this is not because I think gat turrets shouldn't be bought, but because they shouldn't be traded at outrageous markups that ruin, offset and devalue every other activity in the economy.
That's a different issue, TRS. It probably deserves its own thread.

Oh I could write all day about why gat turret prices are ruining the economy. The point is that this will fix the problem, create a new marketplace and add more meaningfulness to combat.
It's certainly not the only way to achieve all these outcomes, but it is a developmentally easy one.

Hive Gat is already an exclusive drop. Adjusting prices and/or falloff curves is a better fix for the economy issue.

eh, taking this weap out of the stations will have little effect on anything -- just meddling with something that doesn't need meddling with. And changing the gat turret price / availability will do nothing for the economy. As long as there are guilds and players with billions upon billions of credits (effectively making obtaining credits meaningless, or at the very least effortless), the economy will never really be "fixed", as some like to say. Separate topic for that though...

Real economies are built on scarcity driving supply and demand which determines price. There is an unlimited supply at the moment thus taking away that unlimited supply will increase the prices and have a more realistic effect. The other option is to have the sell prices also scale which is a fix, but the fact remains that this could be a good piece of economic reform. It's an idea worth consideration.

It should be renamed without 'turret', maybe increase reqs... but become a rare drop is not fun, and only suits the lazy pirates needs for easier preys...
