Railgun turret
Base it off the mk2's stats but make it a turret
I'm really not sure how effective or ineffective this would be without trying one tbh so perhaps pop it on the test server for a week first and let us with Gunner experience check it out.

It would be quite cool. But Rails have such bad auto targeting, I don't think people would be using them.
Railguns have no auto aim, the shoot straight were you aim them
As a turret weapon, there is no energy drain, so it could be used while turboing away. If the chaser is also turboing, he will be an easier target. The high weapon velocity could also help make up for the longer ranges that turret gunners are likely to see.

Railguns have auto-aim, a very small amount.
I suspect this may be a bit overpowered, not that that's such a bad thing. After going to the trouble of finding a gunner, inviting them, having them accept, and rolling out, it would be good to have some better weapons to choose from.

Unlimited ammo rail gun turrets would be overpowered, especially in a Trident vs Trident battle. Given a trident's size and slow speed it is like hitting a barn, and the trident with rail gun turrets should have no problems staying out of weapons range of the trident without.
It really needs a delay to reload once the ammo is exhausted, say 20-30 seconds or so.

That is because tridents currently have crap for weapons. We need more long-range turret weapons, not fewer.

Sounds like a good reason to invest in rail turrets, not a reason to nerf them. This bullshit obsession with "balance" is the very worst part of VO, even more than the lack of content or endgame.

I didn't mean to imply I am opposed to Rail Gun Turrets, just that they need to have some sort of measure implemented to prevent becoming overly spammy. And I didn't mean adding a delay after every shot, just once the magazine is empty (10-30 shots depending on the type).
