Make bind for mission log open the mission log
Currently the bind for the mission log opens up the mission board tab. Could this bind please be made to open up the actual Mission log instead?
The MissionChat command opens the Mission Board if you have no mission, otherwise it opens the Mission Log. It sounds like you want a way to always open the Mission Log even when you don't have a mission.
When a mission completes it leaves the [M] icon on the hud, but the button doesn't view the mission log, so you have to screw with the mouse (or misc. extra keys) to get to it so the thing will go away.
Didn't used to be the case. The devs changed it a while back. It makes grinding convoys and procs more convenient, but can be annoying when doing real missions.
My vote would be to have it default to the log when in space, and the board when in station without active mission.

+1 to PaK and Rin.

Can't you just hit 'm' twice?
I don't know, I have a different key bound to the mission log due to not having the linux configuration program for my gamepad back when I first started playing - I just used the keys it defaulted to and rebound them within VO. If double-pressing 'm' does work I could just rebind the key on the pad to 'm' and use that. Thanks for the tip, I'll try it next time I'm in game.
Defaulting to the log when in space would still make more sense though, and would help avoid confused newbies.

Hitting m twice doesnt do it. You have to select it with the mouse....
Why do you need it to go to the Mission Log? To see what the mission said upon completion?
Missions should have a 'Complete' button at the bottom of the log so it remains active until you press the button. If that is not the case, then let us know which mission(s) it is and we will clean up that mission.
Another thing that we'll do is clean up the "M" button on the HUD when the mission ends so that the "M" button is only present if you have an active mission.

In order to clear the m from the hud you have to open the mission log. None of the other mission related screens will do. Suppressing the m when a mission is not active would fix that.
I am curious why a bind is needed for the mission board which is only usefull in station when the hud is always displayed anyways and I have a mouse in my hand instead of a joystick. I would rather have the bind point to the current mission requirements so they can be quickly accessed. Personal tastes and all I guess.

@ray: mission failure. For example, if I take an escort and then kill the dudes I'm escorting, the mission yells at me and then fails, without any button pressing involved. I don't know if that is typical, as I make a habit of trying to not fail missions.
Besides which, as PaKettle said, when you are in space the mission board tab is utterly useless. On the flip side, the log is still useful even after the mission is complete, in case you want to review the things that happened - for example, if you want to return to whatever sector that last fight was in so you can scoop up the drops, but don't remember the coordinates.

If you have access to a keyboard, I'm pretty sure pressing 'm' followed by 'l' (lower L) opens the log. Still, as the others mentioned, there is really no reason to pull up the mission list while in space. It would probably be more convenient for android players if it was a single bind that opens the mission list while in a station or mission log while in space.
+1 for suppressing the M icon on the hud when a mission is no longer active. Please don't change the MISSION_NOTIFICATION event that gets triggered when a mission ends, though, as I have the plugin SoundAlertSuite setup to play a sound whenever that event occurs, and I like hearing the audible alert at the end of a mission.
EDIT: So if we ever are able to have more than one mission active at a time then there might be a reason to open the mission list while in space. Still, I'd expect you'd be able to see which missions are active from the mission logs too...

Has the change where 'M' is not shown when the mission ends been working out ok?
It addresses the most annoying aspect....so I would say yes
PaKettle, on da trail 'o tears!
