Fix the blockades and here's how! :p

The blockades should first of all shoot any enemy ships (Serco or Itani depending) regardless of faction standing. Period. The only ships exempted should be from the same nation with KOS for the other.

UIT ships should be given a warning to vacate the sector. If after a time period of x (x being something reasonable but not so long that they can fly through the wh unmolested) the UIT ship(s) shall be attacked. Or preferably, a system message every so often declaring all unofficial ships that enter sector x will be destroyed and automatically attack any UIT entering the sector.

Now then, when a nation is blockaded, key commodities become crucial to nation diminishing it's ability to produce and sell top end ships and weapons ( or some other bs reason).

This introduces blockade running. Those key commodities only become available outside the nations space somewhere in Grey at a limited quantity per player. Say 200 units. Those highly needed units come with a ridiculously high profit margin so that say 200 bring a player a profit of 5 million credits. Once the blockade is broken, the price returns to normal, any remaining units get flagged and no longer generate the high profit the next time the blockade is in place.

Perhaps, if this works well, a Stats page later on.

Edit: Actually, change the commodity limit to 5, make the cube 40 and heavy enough to affect a centaurs acceleration and maneuverability without crippling it- but just enough that getting it past an angry blockade is a real challenge.

Edit2: Make successful delivery provide a decent faction boost to the afflicted nation and a serious faction penalty from the afflicting nation.

I like his but the blockades at their basic functionality need to be fixed first to make this effective

-cap ships need to remain in position on the wh and not reset to far away
-fighters need to attack, they attack when the voy is first created but after a sector reset they become stupid and only engage things that shoot them

And a capital ship with no turrets should not count as an active blockade.

+1 to make Blockades effective, giving a few seconds for "frriendlies" to return or be destroyed.

Blockade as now is definitly NOT a blockade. Not effective at start, and dumb after sector resets. They are more like a "gift" to bypassers interested in harvesting N3s (!LENBs) or easier cappies to kill...(edit)

From Wikipedia:
Blockades were first defined in international law at the Paris Declaration Respecting Maritime Law in 1856. One of the agreed rules was that a blockade had to be effective in order to be lawful.
(...)
San Remo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea, 12 June 1994,[10] a blockade is a legal method of warfare at sea, but is governed by rules. The blockading nation must publish a list of contraband, and the manual describes what can never be contraband. Outside this list, the blockading nation is free to select anything as contraband.

+2 to publishing a list of forbidden items, including (Pur)Xith, all weapons and ship components, at least!
Empty ships should be allowed to cross, if pilot have good standing (or loaded ships with Scanner Blockers)

LENBs never drop from the blockade ships, Alloh. That's just proof that you're not very familiar with this topic.

+1 to make blockades more effective. At the moment, the fighters mostly just sit there and gleefully await a volley of chaos swarms to come end their sad hopeless existence.

With my UIT alt I can pass any blockade, carrying anything. Even dock at their capships for a koffee. With my Itani and Serco Alts I can pierce easily any blockade with a mere hog2, sometimes even with a heavily loaded trident... Is that effective?

Anyone with >hated standing can shoot the blockade ships from 50m without any permanent penalties. Just jump away to nearby sector then back and pick up any drops, unharmed. Is that right?

And does someone disagree that is much easier to kill enemy ships on war blockade than on Deneb? Maybe not just after war convoy arrives, but they become sitting ducks after a while...
