Hailing Camera
I think there should be a feature added to use your computers camera when hailing other people and display the image in a small box to the left hand side of the screen... maybe make it monotone like a green hue or something. Just a suggestion!
Interesting idea. Perhaps this could somehow be integrated into voice chat, and it should probably be user defined (i.e. I don't have to see other people's faces unless I want to and vice versa)
Actually, the more I think about this, the more I wonder if it would take away from the game world immersion. It kind of goes against "the ship is the avatar"
If anything it would be neat to see a spectroscopic graph of other players' voices or some type of visual interpretation of their frequency over voice chat. Using an actual image from a computer camera may be going too far... some people like the anonymity of a game or web interface.
I see no reason against it so long as it were optional, but I would probably leave it off.

I think it would be a matter of seconds before somebody hails with their pimply monochrome green behind.
I think keeping the picture frame tiny as well making it monochrome would help prevent taking away from the game world. Maybe keep this feature only functional when in 1st person view but remove it when you use the F9 key to zoom out to see your ship. However, Whistler's probably right.... there would probably be behinds thrown around, LOL!
Yeah, just what we need: VO Chatroulette
