Nation War Prize Money...
Very simple idea. Have the Devs match the prize money donated.
Major guilds these days have more than enough cash to run the nation war with a prize of 10~25 mill.
really no need for the devs to stop in and intervene.
Edited cause of surp

Redistribution would make sense IF the money obtained was actually finite... and as far as I can tell, the game just spits it out whenever you complete a mission or sell items.
+1
For me, it is so important event that should be automated... and officially sponsored with "magic funds" (from game engine).
More stuff could be automated, like the event start time, automatic invites on public channel, integrate with mission system, so on...
RP: Each major nation donates 5Mc if any of his members fight, and even Corvus bets 3Mc for grayteam. The ancient Olympic games spirit is invoked, and even the war is forgotten when the holodecks are transmitting the weekly Nation Wars!

-1 to magically printing vast sums of play money.
The VO economy needs to be run less like the US economy, not more like it.

Also -1, Lecter's right on this one.
Nation War is a player run event, and therefore a player funded event. Besides, credits really are not hard to come by, and like spidey said, there's already huge sums of cash in-game.

I generally agree with opponents, truth is that game needs sort of economy balance. Yes, we can buzzing that all times. But I don't think its simple and it won't come in months.
That coin has two sides. There are people, who spent their cash to entertain others. Take into an account following points...
* Host is single player usually, as far as I can remember actions happened in several months backwards
* The event motivator is FUN, MONEY, EQUIPMENT. Host cannot give out neither XPs, nor faction standing
* Host is putting into the event it's effort, time and good name of himself
* Host is spending time to make a money/interesting equipment to give it away to others
* Host is not necessarily member of a guild. You cannot assume events are donated by guilds by principle.
All this is unthanked business which should be more easy than it is now. I am not against the OP. Let make it for hosts simpler, let them concentrate on the event itself, not how it can be funded.
I would welcome Devs would be glad to have actually players, which are helping them with their business. The Devs "thank you" gesture can include:
* post-event cash partial refunds if it dues
* "Guide Badge" for well prepared events (can be voted, can be given out as mentoring points)
* eventually Devs can donate some neat equipment for it
* Devs should think of resurrecting the GUIDE mechanism for this purpose
Now beat me. Do you cry for a content? Then make it more pleasant to create it.

well, until NW is player run event, I don't see sense in devs donations.
The Devs have made custom trophies and widgets for event prizes and such. That's a great idea as it's something unique and interesting even if it's a useless trophy that makes an IDF valk handle like an XC. :)
What we're discussing here though, is -creating- credits as a prize for a player run event. There's more than enough credits already in the game, and making more is already easy.
Hosting events like this is a good way to sink a few million credits while doing something fun, and potentially remove some money from the game since the prize winners may be more inclined to spend it on things like ships and weapons that get blown up repeatedly.

I agree with no magic money, and no auto NW. (I am not opposed to automatic events in general, but I like that Nation War is player-run, and feel it should stay that way.)
So far I have been able to generate 10M a week for Nation War in addition to funding my own escapades without too much hassle. Of course, it varies depending on my current faction standing with the RNG. She is a fickle mistress, but oh so lovely when she is happy...
Donations are always appreciated, however. The less time I have to spend toiling away at NW prize money, the more time I can spend having fun, and my life is only going to get busier over the next few months. (Just think of all the poor moths that each donation saves from destruction! Make Space-PETA proud.)

Nasty there Lecter. Was thinking the exact same thing! NW is a player driven event, lets just pay for it our selves
