Make skirmish NPCs dock with the station.
After the end of a skirmish, Itani ships jump to Deneb O-3 and Serco ships jump to Deneb B-12, yet if you follow them, none are there.
It would make more sense if they actually launched from Deneb O-3 or Geira Rutilus O-4 when the skirmish started and docked with the station afterwords. I know this isn't an option yet for capital ships, since they have no way to dock with a station, but why not for the fighters and bombers? Convoys do it.

+1, just like convoys, fighters and bombers should complete WH crossing and dock. Immersion!
+1. HS, too.

I have mixed feelings about this. I agree, it is better for immersion, but at the same time I would like to increase the general density of ships flying in and out of station sectors. At first glance, skirmish ships would seem to meet this goal, but they tend to arrive en-masse, where I would like to try and keep a fairly continuous density that doesn't fluctuate too much. Part of the reason is that if a skirmish arrives at the same time as a couple of convoys, it could make for a pretty lengthy docking experience, during which there might be too many ships in the sector, making it slow for players. We have various timers to handle that situation, where the ships will eventually just "magically dock" and vanish, but that's about as non-immersive as having then never arrive in the first place.
Anyway, the concern is getting more ships to "do stuff" in station sectors, without having large spikes of them which are both tough on people with slower connections, as well as those using slower hardware.
But, we may be able to include this as part of a future re-working of how we handle bots moving in and out of station sectors.

What about just common people (NPC) flying around the station/system doing things? Randomly mining, floating between stations trading, coming in for repairs from static Hive sectors, etc.
Anything other than disappearing into nowhere would be cool. :)
Simple solution:
-NO convoys to border stations (Deneb/GR-O4)
Only military traffic there, so the Deneb fighters can return home...
And since this is a war zone, and a border, make some cappies and fighters keep circulating around those stations. Nothing else, they only fight back if attacked.
Also you can limit the number of fighters that actually reach station sector and dock, like, when battle ends and 100 fighters depart from frontline, only 15 or 20 complete jump and dock.

Since it's an active war zone theres even more reason to have convoys docking there. All those pilots on the front would need food, water, clothing, etc. Not to mention ship components for repair and weapons.
Military Logistics should care of this, using military voys...
Without "regular" convoy missions to/from frontline we are stuck to problem Inc mentioned. Without it, fighters can return home...

Actually military craft should have their own dock......
There's like... 6 docks on the station at Deneb O-3. >_>
