A few things.

Being that I am a new player, I will be talking about things that would greatly help the new player experience.

First, in terms of the PDA and Missions I think it would be a good idea to "gray out" missions once they have been completed. Also, as for missions available to you, a change of color to available mission vs missions that have already been completed, yet are still in the mission queue would be great. It kinda gets confusing for a new player to cipher through a long list of missions and accept one only to realize that you have already completed it.

Next, in terms of Navigation, I think there should be an auto target to any jump point made or given. I find it very cumbersome to have to look around all over the place to finally find the jump point I need to get to. Perhaps a colored arrow to indicate which direction you need to turn would be best here.

As for outfitting your ship with new equipment, I'm not totally sure whether it was the game or my computer, but I was having difficulties fitting new hardware to my ship. As a default I'll blame my computer, but I still think that section could use a lot of work. For a new player to come in, read the descriptions and the like, then try start outfitting his ship, it can be a little confusing.

These are the three main things I have stumbled on as the game is now. I would like to thank the devs, and fellow pilots of the Vendetta Universe for being so friendly and all together helpful to the newcomers, such as myself.

I'd also like to point out what a great job the lore crafters did when crafting the lore of this game. It is some of the best scifi game lore I have ever read. I have read a few of the stories in the Roleplaying forums and am very excited to read more.

In today's culture we are media driven people. There's no denying it. That being said, I think more time should be given to the media aspect of VO, videos being the most predominant. Fan made material should be recognized not only on the Wiki site, but here on this website as well.

Looking to the future of VO I think player owned/managed stations in low security areas such as Gray Space, would be a move in the right direction. It would give guilds more meaning. As for addressing the avatar issue, I think that there is something to be said when one of the top MMO space "simulator" games in the industry realizes that avatars are a pivotal part to the overall game experience. I will not pretend to understand the complexities of creating an avatar within this particular game engine, but it is certainly something to consider, perhaps in future content updates.

"I find it very cumbersome to have to look around all over the place to finally find the jump point I need to get to."

Unless its a worm hole you don't have to. You just have to get to 3000m from any large objects.

"for a new player to come in, read the descriptions and the like, then try start outfitting his ship, it can be a little confusing."

Not really. You buy a new ship, its empty. You buy weapons and equipment for your empty ship it is put in place for you. If the equipment is stuff you already have, its drag and drop. What precisely are you having troubles with?

Anyway, welcome to VO.

Yes, actually I found that making another new character I didn't have half the problems I had the first time around. I also realized that Jump Points are indicated on the radar with a "+" so that sorta solves my problems there as well. I kept loosing internet the first day i tried the game out, and I think that may have had something to do with all the problems I had.

Lol... yeah lack of net will cause problems. About the jump point, yes it is marked by the green + on radar and the blue point on your HUD. However, thousands of new pilots die at the hands of pirates, Itani swine and various villainous vermin. The Jump point is only a suggestion, all you need to do is put 3000m between you and any excessively large objects... (stations, roids, people who play WoW... etc...etc...)... and you can jump. If you are being chased by an enemy... (and you can't fight him/her off)... plot several jumps through empty sectors. It doesn't guarantee you'll escape but, it gives you a better chance.

Anyrate... I'm headin for the void, so if ya need anything give me a holler in game (though most people here are willing to help out.)

Important exception: If you are caught in an Ion Storm, then you do need to use the marked jump point to leave. But in all other cases, intra-system jumps just require a 3km distance from large objects as Ryan stated. Also, your HUD shows your current distance as both numbers and a meter. Though, the number isn't perfectly accurate. I find that I can often warp just fine when the number is reading around 2.7km.

Regarding escaping pirates, anybody who is within about 1km of your ship when you jump can see where you jumped to - the game announces it in the chat box. And there is a plugin that will watch for that announcement and automatically plot a course to that sector, so we can follow you quickly. So if you can help it, try to make sure you're far enough away that they won't see where you went.
