Cargo Cannon

I am awful at coming up with stats for weapons, so here is my idea. I'll let you, the beloved reader, come up with stats.

Vendetta needs a cargo cannon, we all want it, some just didn't know yet. It can be either large or small port or one for each. basically is will shoot a random piece of cargo from your hold at a diminishing velocity until it reaches 0, based of course on the weight of the cargo. The cargo, being cargo, can be picked up at any time of its flight or while stationary.

This could be used for VO sports! passing off important cargo to other members of an escort or just plain playing keep away from the small nerdy pilot in glasses.

It's so obvious! Why didn't anybody think of this before!

<Alloh>
Could we also have a gun that changes the paint job on your opponent's ship?

PaK, it does ships and mines and missiles and such... why not cargo? It can't be that different.

cargo just spawns and sits there. I don't even think cargo has mass when it's in space.

Treat it like a ship. Give it some mass and an initial velocity (preferably related to the actual mass of the item). Also give it a space-brake like a ship has, but permanently applied and weaker.

Then, as long as moving cargo is supported, give jetted cargo initial velocity as well. Preferably the current velocity of the ship. So if you're turning and jet cargo, it would travel off at a tangent until the magic space-drag (or the crate's built-in-thrusters) slows it to a stop.

It would probably also need a bit of collision detection, so that if you shoot or jet cargo in such a way that it would collide with, say, a roid, it would bounce off instead of slip inside.

That would also result in spinning roids bumping cargo out of the way when jetted near them, so you don't get cargo that temporarily hides inside the roid anymore, which would be a good thing.

Nice, bugfix and feature.

this requires completely rewriting the cargo. I'm all for it, should be done anyways.

Good ideas.
