Border patrol has outlived its usefulness and is really just used to cheat leveling but please feel free to discuss its pros and cons here

Pros:
-it is another mission on the board
-Vets making an alt can level it quickly

Cons:
-it is old, as old as the weirdo and ceo missions and it shows it
-it is a cheap leveling hack
-Vets level up newbs accelerating their venture to grey which means they miss half the content in nation space and then join those same vets in floating around b8 complaining about nothing to do because they can't be bothered to leave sedina now
-Should have been removed when BS came out anyways

Mainly the newb thing is the main con i don't care about leveling an alt quickly but cheating a newb into a higher level is just going to reduce the time it takes for them to get bored and they will leave sooner

Ever since the additional, more interconnected content has been rolled out in Deneb, it has indeed seemed out of place.

get rid of it, there are more fun ways to level up an alt now : )

But yeah, I support removing it, it is too tempting to use to *help* out newbs. They do miss a lot when you power level.

Perhaps revise it a bit, significantly nerf the group rewards and find a use elsewhere for the mission.

At one point, I had an alt at 10/10/10/0/0 who had never left a station and had several million credits.

Content in nation space?

you can make way more levels solo in deneb with advanced combat practice btw...

I have in the past enjoyed BP quite a bit more than the other Deneb offerings and I like the cooperation between newbs and vets it encourages. *shrug*

I have to go with Maalik on this, it encourages interaction and it beats the hell out of blasting Oruns for newbs. It also draws newbs into conflict with each other (on the occasions where a group of enemy newbs take the mission simultaneously.

I understand it can level newer guys faster, but so can taking a HS in an ion storm.

I have an alt with 8/6/3/2/1, the only leveling I've ever done was in a crit in a storm. If you remove BP, remove storm crits.

-1 to OP. I was glad to have a quick way of leveling up that was combat-focused and much more interesting than early hive hunting missions. BP was also my first opportunity as a noob to actually play alongside vets. I learned a lot and had fun. That's really all I want out of VO.

Hmm, having it reworked into something to stimulate combat would be good.

I'm only new, but I really enjoyed BP with some guildies. Yeah, it's a lot of experience, but it's a nice incentive to play with some friends. I know I had fun, was probably easymode for them, but oh well. I don't wanna see it deprecated or removed, perhaps revamped, but yeah, good fun.

We need MORE content, not less...

I bring this back up as we now get xp from the border skirmish missions further making BP pointless as it has no RP value and is a weak mission.

Since Border skirmish NPC's now give weapons XP fighter skirmishes directly duplicate this mission except fighter skirmishes contribute to grey war convoys and BP does not

Perhaps refresh Border Patrol to be a bit more involved, like the patrol missions in the "need creds? join the jallik defense force!" tree? Where different enemies are encountered and you have to patrol between multiple sectors as part of the mission.
