Tutorial Narrator and a picture speaks 1000 words
The tutorial seems to have a lot of text to it and takes alot of reading, if this was narrated it would be far more user friendly and perhaps putting some pictures into the tutorial would be nice too :D
I'm just going to turn this one over to Lecter.
But for the sake of niceties, this, and similar ideas have been suggested before and I believe shot down. Reading the tutorials is not really all that difficult and, assuming you've done the tutorials there are plenty of folk willing to help out.
Don't fret, Odinegras! It's not too late for your parents to try this:
[Edit]Though it pains me to say it . . . -- most of my favorite posts start with some variation on that phrase.[/Edit]

Something the tutorials forgot to mention is that this game has a few nasty trolls. Best to ignore them.
Though it pains me to say it, they do have a slight point. Reading isn't too difficult. You do a lot of it in VO. Maybe a few pictures of the HUD and arrows with labels pointing to various items could be useful.
By the way, welcome to VO.

I don't find the OP to be very persuasive. Perhaps a picture or two are in order?
Maal wins thread!
good thing i'm wearing a belt otherwise i might have split in two.
*tips hat to maal & Lecter*

Careful now, nobody go over 140 characters.
I agree that the tutorials can be better presented, but this would be best taken care of by an interface sexification, like web 2.0 for VO.

Odinegras is correct, and we are working on this for Android. The changes will eventually be back-propogated to the PC version once things are stabilized.
Odinegras is also better qualified to register an opinion on the new user experience than all the jaded alt-grinders here, myself included. Anything that can get a trial-newb informed and flying quicker will help the trial-to-sub ratio. It seems to me there is room for both a narrated, read-a-long slide-show or video to spoon feed the "must-know-before-leaving-training-sector" info, as well as one or three more optional challenges and text-lectures for the diligent students. Mentioning the /mentor commands in the tutorials would be nice...
It will be great to have the tutorials outside the game, web-based, and created thinking in translations!
The same content to be read by a regular browser, and in-game tab.
And making it web-based would simplify the translations, using regular web tools... Even posting the texts on forum would result in many translations, as many already offered. And it gets the same pictures and animations.
Indeed, I guess that making the whole tutorial to be web-based, with simple videos showing actions, images, so on. Integrated with the registration.
So when newbie finally connects to game, he already knows what is going on, what to do. Then he could have an option to see online tutorial OR go direct to "Basic Flight Test".
And finally, an unrelated image:

An advantage of being able to do the less active portions of a tutorial online is that it leaves more of the trial time for actual playing.

So... Never.
So... Never.
Not what was said. Thanks for trying.
I find having to do the tutorial multiple times excessive and unnecessary after the first time. I already have done the starting tutorial and I wanted to look around a different faction, so i created a new profile and there i was stuck being told to do the tutorial again. My point is overall, not worth buying right now, feels like this game is still very much in beta. not spending my money here yet...
Gods, what ever will we do without you, Rocherd?!
