Multiple stations in the same sector?
Have you guys tried creating multiple conquerable stations in the same sector? If they were able to be "at war" with each other, would the server load from the turrets taking pot shots at each other be too much?
Might also be interesting if you could put a conquerable station in the same sector as a popular "normal" one (like Sedina D14 say) and then jack up the price of trade goods enough to make a higher incentive to take and hold the conquerable station.

ok, suppose you add another station near a Corvus one. Corvus forces get there, conquer it and it is another corvus station in a corvus station sector forever. Why?
Sounds fun to me...
alloh, even if corvus/bots could take the conquerable station, there's NOTHING stopping us from taking it back! it is, after all, conquerable ;)

I was talking to one of the devs about something similar and he expressed a desire to at least have more/bigger stations for the UIT reigon.
VO really need to scale up stations.
Just check other space sims. MOST of VO stations are tiny. Biggest present ship, Connie, would be considered a small to medium transport on most other "universes". I'm talking about stations and cappies measured in kilometers...
All capital stations and most military ones should have also largers docks, able to hold many HAC/Connie/Tridents, but not the future larger ships. That is where ships are built and repaired.
So, instead of another station in same sector, sounds better have another "branch" or extension of existing stations, with separated docks and player-owned shops, and leave conquerable stations small and remote...
Examples from FreeSpace2:
GTI Arcadia is 3792 m length
Alky'Shtar are small stations measuring 1500 x 1450 x 2440 m.

VO is to VO's scale. When anything from FS2 shows up in the VO galaxy, then you might have a point.
Alloh, I don't think we want VO to become so big. The single person fighter should remain the most widely used, imo. The game isn't about enormous capships and stations.
The major points in FREESPACE universe:
Some things are huge. Capital ships and stations. The battles and objectives.
The player is a simple fighter/bomber pilot caught in the war.
Capital ships are huge, but slow. A few bombers can do a better job in taking them out than another capital of same size. But fighters can't do that easily...
That is why every major ship have wings of bombers and fighters.
The pilot never flies capships, not even freighters.
---> Back in VO:
I would like to see the stations here scale up. Simply, more of the same, but make stations be like many hundreds of times bigger than a fighter. Make smaller stations looks like the big ones now, and the capitals, specially UIT, like cities in the space...
And one more reason I would like to see players flying tridents ASAP, since they are not capital ships, at best case are light frigates...

Why?
Why?
Why?
How can them hold hundreds of fighters, and bombers, and cargo ships, and personnel quarters, recreation, office area, storage and all required life supporting systems, weapons, so on, for hundreds of people?
Or docking bays are ultra-miniaturization devices, than turns ships, cargo and people to nanoscale?

Get over it you pissant. What a waste of time.
Dude, haven't you seen the Harry Potter movies? They shrink that shit when it gets inside the station.
I went on a long intel-gathering mission just the other day, investigating every normal station in known space. I learned some things. One of which is that the docking-bays actually employ ancient technology salvaged from pokeballs to store our ships and equipment.
at best case are light frigates...
Hence the name, Trident Light Frigate.
+1 to station size increase, perhaps 5x the size of the stations now.
-1 to capship size increase. They're big enough.
BACK ON TOPIC: +1 to OP. Interesting idea.

Don't be ridiculous... everyone knows that the stations use Corvus made knock offs of Gallifrein technology.
+ 1 to immensely larger stations
+ 1 to larger cappies (as long as they are not just variants)

+ 1 to larger cargo hold for cappies by an order of magnitude (seriously, is 300cu for a trident/1000cu for a connie a CRUEL JOKE ? Somebody forgot to add another "0" or what ?)

I think HAC's are just the size they need to be, and that connies could be a little bigger. Teradons and Tridents need to be wayyy bigger.
+1 to larger cappies- only tridents and teradons
+1 to larger stations

+1 to Gallifrein Technology
-1 to Corvus for stealing the Timelord's inventions

-1 to larger Tridents. Tridents are light military support ships and they fit that role fairly well. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more turrets on them though.
