programmable maneuvers

Hi all

I have not played in a while but will likely start playing again soon.
I still like the game and didn't really have any major dislikes about it.

I have a few suggestions, that also indicate the topic regarding those suggestions.
I had some desire for other features that would be more space like in my opinion.

1. Long distance flight should have automatic flight computers to take you in and out of worm holes to the destination. Unless you fly at light speed or above, it would likely take you a long long time to get there and it is unlikely that there would be someone manually flying a ship for months or even years straight. Except to check the nav system while in process. (if at light speed it would even take as long as months/years to get around in space and thus it would seem more realistic for navigation to occur by computer navigation unless there is a enemy contact alert etc.
2.Pre-programmable maneuvers.
Combat leaves me wanting pre-programmable evasive maneuvers based on my own strategies etc.(although combat seems real enough)I can't help but wonder if every single combat move would be performed manually or with options for programmed maneuvers.
Especially if you are alerted to a enemy combat which would prompt a pre-programmed evasive maneuver. Especially if you went to the bathroom for a bit while navigation is taking you to another locations etc.

I can see a need to manual control in combat, but depending on the level of technology perhaps there would also be programmable maneuvers or even a series of pre-programmable meneuver options.

Also it seems every ship is a single manned piloted combat ship even if it's a mining ship etc.
No passengers, no crew no repair drones etc.
Which says there is not a shield regeneration no repairs nothing. This in turn means that it could simply break down and leave you stranded in space until your resources food, water etc just run out which would likely happen since your in a single piloted ship with no way to make repairs at all.
However, this has not really been touch on in vendetta at all.
You simply fly with unlimited resources and never a breakdown.
With only one pilot and no way for repairs this is unlikely.

3. I would rather get rid of turbo altogether or put more limits on it but no unlimited. And this would require to be more tactical when enter enemy space.
Possibly, Sending a public request transmission for help would be nice, and a repair drone could come from a station some place, of course this would give away your location to everyone which would be sort of fun also. But consider that the ship with only one single pilot never seems to have mechanical or electric problems without any way to even address any such problems either. And never runs out of fuel. It's practically a perfect ship that never breaks down not very realistic as far as that goes. If the technology were there for that it would likely have nav computers and also even pilot drones unless your in combat etc.

So to conclude:
1.You wouldn't always be in combat mode manually turbo-ing around everywhere you would have some sort of auto nav system and likely pre-programmable evasive maneuvers
2.You would probably break down at some point or run out or fuel since you have no way for repairs. Chances are you would not make to a station every time.

Anyhow, thats my 2 cents worth of suggestions.

Happy shooting.

Really,

No programmable maneuvers Ever ?

Thats was my main suggestion, but the others were sort of secondary.

So no programmable evasive maneuvers ever right ?

Sorry, I usually include a reason in my replies. The reason being, we finally managed to get rid of programmable maneuvers and script assisted flight... and the universe is a better place for having done so.

So in closing... no, not ever.

Oh, I didn't realize this was something that was already unwanted.
Thanks

I read up until point #2. No autopilot. This is called "twitch" combat.

Perhaps some sort of auto-navigation would be okay. Just no combat-related.

Something that will kill the "active" way we play this game will surely be detrimental. -1

There were some combat maneuvering assist plugins and quite a few dodge binds. As far as I know, the former were entirely useless in PVP, and the latter nearly so. Nevertheless, people whined about it until the devs blocked the functionality.

There have also been a few full-on autopilot scripts written. I'm not sure how well any of them worked, but with one it is, in theory possible to have a bot do trade runs 24/7. Most of us do not want that.

-1.

That would probaly kill a lot of joy in the game.

Perhaps if the game was completely redesigned, there would be a place for autopilot. But for the state it is now in, autopilot would do only harm.
