Convoy assembly
After all recent talks about Trident and convoys, and while using grayhounds for escorts, with its integrated cargo scanner, I noticed one inconsistency.
When you take convoy missions including one larger (avoiding 'capital') ship, it comes out of nowhere, fully loaded, while remaining smaller cargo ships launches from station.
When it arrives at destination, the moths and smaller goes dock and deliver goods, while the trident or connie simply warps away still with the cargo!
Ok, how to solve it?
* Freighter Loading and Unloading operation:
The larger convoys includes a major ship, which requires a loading operation at departure, and another stage at destination for unloading operation.
The hired escort pilot (player) should also ensure safety of (un)loading stages.
Operation should happen inside NFZ, and covered by additional station guards (or SF). The same ships that will compose convoy should perform (un)loading to/from station.
New convoy assembly stages / logic, with a sample convoy composed of: Trident1, Moth2, Moth3, Centaur4
1) Player lauches from station, T1 warps in empty. M2,M3,C4 launches loaded from station.
2) T1 heads to NFZ and park, M2,M3,C4 docks with T1 and deliver (120+120+48)cu.
3) M2,M3,C4 launch empty from T1 and go dock to station. T1 heads to next jump point with has 288cu of cargo.
4) M2,M3,C4 launch loaded again from station, and follow T1.
5) ---normal convoy route---
6) Unload operation at destination: T1 heads to NFZ, others dock to station, unload, launch empty, dock to T1, unload it and deliver to station. Then T1 warps away.
A realistic guess is (3+3) 6min more in convoy missions. Just have to balance the number of smaller ships with larger one's capacity.
As collateral benefits, it also solves the spread convoy bug, adds more traffic around stations, and solve one limitation on player-owned freighters.
