Require respected (possibly higher?) standing to set a home station

Sep 01, 2010 ShankTank link
Title says it.

1) Hopefully, by the time a newbie's respected with another faction they will realize the danger of homing at place that they definitely shouldn't home at if they plan on flying a stingray/hx Revenant around.

2) It makes much more sense than the current system where being able to dock immediately mean that the person is able to set their home there.

3) It will play well into the faction redux, when factions will become exclusive.

+1, something need to be done with current "set home" system.

Heh, I suggested too some limit, like setting price for home:

Logical alternative.

But that requirement should vary, from neutral up.

What happens if you get hated by that faction after homed?

Same thing that happens if you get hated by a faction after you home with them now, you stupid cur.

If you become hated by a faction and have a home station set to that same faction's station it'll bounce you around until it finds a good location (perhaps a capital in your home nation's space, and if you're hated there Corvus capital) and sets your home for you.

I believe that currently, if you lose docking privileges at your current home, you are effectively homed at Corvus capital.

Thus tarenty's suggestion is obsolete.

Because I tire of newbs being trapped at grey stations...

I suggest you not be allowed to home at any grey station unless you can purchase at least a drain 55 or less, turbo 200+ ship, and at least a heavy power cell at that station.

That seems... rather arbitrary.

I'd probably be easier (and less controversial) to go with the original idea, and require a reasonably high amount of standing to set your home at a station belonging to a gray space faction. Set the requirement high enough that the newbs have to actually work at it; that way, if they get 'trapped' its technically the pirates' fault for not being attentive enough of 'their' territory. =^p

Naturally, when a player is universally despised they should get dumped off at Corvus Hold just as they are presently, bypassing this restriction.

There is nothing wrong with the system, as is.

I forgot to add that i agree with the conception, however the minimum standing required to set home should be about -100.

Otherwise it will be extremely difficult for players to up their standing in a nation that doesn't like them.
