System liberation events

Aug 24, 2010 pirren link
+ Add devs, guide or automated simple events, that are held in Initros, Azek or Jallik empty sectors:

Idea of event: Serco fleet spawns in Jallik empty sector, huge unaligned fleet spawns in Azek and huge Itani fleet spawns in Initros empty sector.
Assault fleet: 4 tridents, 2 frigates, 1 HAC. +many little SVGs, WTDs, or IBGs + players :}
Defending fleet: continously spawning SF+players.
If assault fleet survives for 30 minutes, it succeeds the operation and breaks system communication.
If assault fleet wins, system becomes unaligned or at least unmonitored for 1-6 hours (except stations).
No other rewards and no special mission for these events.
Event starts every 8 hours for each system. So at 08:00 start UIT event, at 16:00 starts Itani event, at 24:00 starts serco event.
Updates on assault operations can be read at Serco, Itani or Corvus barracks, but defense info at Serco, Itani or UIT barracks.
Every player that kills at least 1 SF unit becomes KOS to nation.

Why not tie conquerable stations into this? Make Initros O-12 and Jallik E-15 become temporarily Itani/Serco selling basic ships if the assault fleet wins.

By the way, what do you classify as winning? Surviving 30 minutes or something else? Does breaks system communication mean system chat (rarely used)? Or does it prevent players in Jallik from talking on channels?

I think Jallik, Azek, and Initros would be unaligned very often with our current player base, if the event is this common. I'd say once every 48 hours, at different times for each system.

And if the kill is accidental? SF have a habit of getting in the way.

I think it's a good idea, but needs polishing.

The idea is that assault fleet tries to stay in specific sector as long as it can. For example, if event time is 30 minutes, than existanse of single assault NPC at 31st minute is loss for defenders.

"To break system communication" it means to make system at least unmonitored, so no faction communicators can report about kills of admired players and no faction loss as a result.

I am afraid this can overpower the value and importance of conq stations for players.. Too much attention to them.

Well, maybe setting player standings to KOS sounds to brutal in case of mistake. Anyways faction drops should HURT ;

How about -100 standing, if you have +800 or less already? If you have +801 or above, you lose no standing?

"If you have +801 or above, you lose no standing?"

So if I get 801+ standing with uit I can help azek become grey without faction loss?

Nah. I'm not entirely against you people with pos or 900+ faction keeping it, but there still needs to be some repercussion for accidental (or not) friendly fire. Perhaps scalable decreases down to 800+, when it starts becoming as severe as -100.

Also, the concept that a faction taking over space then cuts comm lines isn't actually a bad idea. I'd like to see communication in vo be quite a bit more limited, but this is an idea for another day.
