More info before accepting a mission
Most of the missions only seem to provide you with all the information about them after you say "Accept".
Yet some of them have standing penalties if you abort.
I'd like to see all the information -- especially on these delivery missions -- before I say accept. I just took one that said "nearby", which I figured meant in-system. It's two wormholes away, doesn't pre-plot the navigation path, and I haven't even had a "How to leave this system" tutorial yet. (Fortunately, I've read a bunch of stuff on the wiki and strategy guide, so I at least think I know how :-).

Yeah, totally.
Maybe, too, the mission should inform you of exactly where you'll have to go for the entire mission/string; exactly what sorts of foes you'll have to face and their precise numbers/weapons/ships/powercells; any credits you'll earn or have to spend; and, any time limits that will be imposed.
Fuck, you know what? After it lists all that, we'll just let you complete and finish the mission by hitting "Accept." No need to actually do it all after being spoon-fed everything.

Alright, it turns out I didn't know how to plot a course after all.
I specifically choose a non direct path from UIT central to the wormhole, by shift clicking. Yet in one jump, I'm at the wormhole.
(Why take a non-direct path? 1, to experiment; 2, to avoid ion storms; 3, because it's non-obvious which seems to be a good thing to do in a PvP game. Now, in this case, there were no ion storms.)

+1 to OP.
Hmm... where did that "Be Nice" thread go?...
There are no Ion Storms in capital systems (Sol II, Itan, Dau).

Some of them should provide a bit more information up front.
