New CTF Idea
I know that CTF will not be a big part of the game as the game is developed but I think there is a way to keep it in some form.
My idea is to go back and use the CTF setup that was in the game when Vendetta only had 2 sectors or zones, CTF and Deathmatch. In that version you had to collect all the flags (I think there were 10) and once they all turned your teams color you won. With some modifications this could be adapted for the current version buy useing an empty sector like 9 or 15 and placeing the same kind of defence bots and turrents you see in the home sectors only make them a bit smarter. The reward would be something like 250k. If you want you could only use 1 flag but I think it would more of a challenge to have multiple flags. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Actually, I like this idea. I don't mind the current status of CTF (obviously for the prize) but I always wanted to try the ctf part in the 2.x.x versions of vendetta on my friend's (Tempest) comp. I didn't end up getting the computer I needed until about... somewhere in late september 2002 - early october 2003 so I was there for 3.0.x on. I really wanted to see it.

10ish to 20ish flags are scatterd randomly. To score collect all of them for your team and keep them in your team's possesion for 5 mins. Killing a flag carrier automaticaly transfers the flags to you. Suicides cause flags to drop, though still under said teams controll. Flags drop after 2 1/2 mins of not picking up another one. Flags dropped by your team must be gaurded as only other teams can pick them up.

Nice idea, though it resembles Domination in Unreal Tournament, but whatever... Wouldn't work in the game though. Remember, they're making a MMORPG, not a shoot 'em up.
The final game will be about 3 nations at war with each other, and you play the role of a member of one of those nations. You can either join the military forces and fight for your nation, become a trader, smuggler, pirate, bounty hunter or whatever profession you like.
And oh yeah, those three nations fiercely at war with each other also compete in some game in an abandoned sector where you have to collect some "flag" things floating there, which will help your nation gain ehh... "score". Which will improve your nations status... somehow... I think...
Can somebody point out where this whole thing starts turning plain silly, 'coz apparently the previous posters in this thread can't.
Or do you think that the Rebellion and the Empire in Star Wars also competed in some silly competition over who could capture the most banthas on Tatooine? Newsflash: they were too busy fighting each other!

It's like the Olympics. You fly around collecting flags in this special sector for the pride of your nation.

How about some mysterous race sometimes leaves some artifacts in a random sector? Whatever nation gets all .. err.. 7 artifacts to their home-base gets Some Mystery Power. (Unreal2 style)
