Seriously, I know it's just a test bed for capital ship convoy AI... but if you put it in the game could you please balance it? The fact that you have capital ships with 1-4 million points of armor guarding people and trade ships from Oruns and making only 2-3 sector hops at a time is ridiculous.
And the only way for pirates to take these out is to take escort missions and abort them to make sure there are enough sector hops to wear down the armor (for Connies, it's pretty much impossible without running them through turrets)... People should be afraid to hide in a capital ship with no shields up, and if they let 100,000 points of damage go into their capships... chances are they're hiding in them only for the safe travel that they provide and they pretty much deserve it to be blown up.
So... current armor values:
Constellation: 4,000,000
Trident: 1,000,000
Proposed values:
Constellation: 500,000
Trident: 200,000
Note: this is only a proposal for capital ships that are in convoys, not the military grade ones in Hive and Border Skirmishes and the like.
Note2: for the last time, stop confusing armor with shields. It will take just as much organization to take down Tridents and Connies and the like, just less grinding... and you will be seeing a lot more pirates threatening your convoys and putting up a fun fight.

I believe the escort Constellations should get 1,000,000 armor, though. It is a very large ship.

Actually, eliminate the Constellations altogether. I just does not make sense to use a ship of that size and power as an escort. It slows the voy down considerably. The sheer size of the thing would make additional transports unnecessary. Since comparing the size of the heavy to the Constellation, you could fit over a hundred heavies inside. I may be exaggerating a bit, but not by much.
Teradons would make far more believable escorts. Just replace the uber whatever in the hell they use with standard cap guass or more of their killer gatlings, or turret missiles.

The point of the Constellations in convoys is that they carry 1500cus of cargo. Teradons are meant for war.
In all honesty, given their size, the Constellations really ought to carry closer to 15000cus or more...
Even so, I'd like to see a proper distinction between the 'civilian' and 'militarized' versions of ships. I have no problems with the OPs suggestion of lowering the armor of capital ships in convoys, so long as the capships in Border and Hive Skirmish stay as-is.
And, yeah, lets leave the Teradons out of the 'voys.

+1 to OP idea lower armor for convoy cap ships.
I propose a little different numbers:
For voy trident: 300.000 armor
For voy connie: 1.200.000 armor

It would probably save the devs some time and also save the rats the trouble of actually having to work once in a while if all voys just headed straight to b8 and self destructed.
JJ, there is a difference between having to work for something and having to crack the shields of a ship and then take out 1,000,000 to 4,000,000 points of armor before...
A. the shields go back up.
or
B. the ship gets to where its going and jumps to nowhere.
No one is asking for a free kill here, just for it to be something that can be done without trying to organize a full fledged armada to be even minimally effective.

If I want to crack a cappie now, I make sure I pick a voy that's heading far enough that I'll have time to bust it. Hunting them legitimately is fucking retarded, as you never know when the chase will be cut short.

Ahem.
At the very least... cut the armor or shields until VO has a much larger player base. It can always be upped when we have an average of 200 to 500 people online at any given moment.
I'd prefer bigger guns to shoot them with, personally.

He has a point.

Ehhh, that'd be nice in the future... but for the very moment that would require a lot of balancing and dev work (especially with respect to regular non-cappy convoys). Something simple like this would add a lot more fun to the 'verse for just a small stat change.
Connies would still require 3+ very well organized and prepared bombers to take down. And even minus the shields, the proportion of cargo to armor would probably be just about the same for a Trident as a Behemoth Heavy.

"He has a point."
But a jack assed sarcastic point. For example... We are alive, the end result is death... thus suicide is the only rational thing any person can do. Its a point, but like his... its completely retarded.

Non-sequitor, Ryan. It does not follow that because the end result of life is death, that one should speed the process up. Besides, death isn't exactly the teleological end of life in the first place.
Holy thread necromancy! Message deleted as I said it all already.
