Capital System Faction Protection
Faction protection in capital system should either
1) apply to all non duel player interactions or
2) not apply to players of the same nation that are not native.

Faction protection should be removed from capital systems. That's not RP wise to protect from FF as it is :/
Possible suggestions:
- Strengthen strike forces
- 100.000(?) bounty should be placed automatically on the head of killer.

I would die of shock if ff were ever fully removed. That said, a few additions to discourage killing in capitals...
- no pk scored or 1 pk deducted for killing a native
- 250,000cr mandatory fine on top of faction loss for killing a native
- double the mandatory fine for each successive kill
- since this is almost exclusively a UIT issue, allow POS UIT players to join the 'Defense Force' which allows them to kill without penalty. This would probably work best through a guild application process and require guide or dev approval to avoid abuse by players like myself. It irk's me that I have to promise to forgive players that kill me so they aren't penalized when they should be rewarded.

Noob, No one should get the ability to freely kill people, would be way too easily abused.

Chaosis, I have to wonder if you actually read the posts and understand the topic.
I have to wonder with you.
Faction protection in capital system should either
1) apply to all non duel player interactions or
2) not apply to players of the same nation that are not native.
You forgot the third and correct answer:
3) be entirely removed from the game
Also,
- no pk scored or 1 pk deducted for killing a native... is a fucking stupid idea. A pk is a pk is a pk. If you want to discourage pk collectors, make real piracy fun and profitable. The way to do that is to remove escort missions from the game (or nerf them to the point that the aren't a viable means of income) and make trading and mining more attractive. Also, make money worth something. That is all a topic for a different thread, though.
- 250,000cr mandatory fine on top of faction loss for killing a native... is also a fucking stupid idea. UIT doesn't have access to my bank accounts. They can impose fines on me until the heat death of the universe, but I'm not paying them a cent.
- double the mandatory fine for each successive kill... see above.

I think the faction redux is supposed to fix a lot of that. Let's see if it does first before we start talking about other methods of addressing the issue.

+1) apply to all non duel player interactions
That is what makes sense, RP-wise. Or else this becomes lawless wild west and we no longer need factions/rules. Nation capitols should indeed have MUCH more traffic from guards and overall military forces, as well as another border patrol, traffic control (who can dock where). But that also is another post being prepared.

I'm for complete removal of faction protection, however, it might make sense to treat the entire system as an NFZ for non-duel PVP interactions. Of course, shooting anyone who has already violated the NFZ should result in reward, not punishment.
@Zak
Make it "capitol sector" instead of 'system' and I'd like the idea of expanding NFZ rules.
+1 to not punishment to whoever violates NFZ. But doesn't that already results from 'temp KoS'.

Thinking better, that even make senses that, on capitol sectors, not even duels are allowed...
-Make whole capitol sector become NFZ, and reduce protection at remaining sectors, except WHs.

ladron,
I'd love to see it removed, however I seriously doubt its going to happen any time soon. Those were merely suggestions that if by some highly unlikely event that ff is actually removed, could be used to deter players from taking advantage of inexperienced players in capital systems. And as such, were merely thoughts that were provoked by pirren's post. Optimally, players could do whatever they want and be rewarded and penalized for their actions accordingly rather than have magic barriers.
And yes, your comments about trade, mining and escort missions are on the right track, yet as of today, not one aspect of VO has meaning or value beyond the treasured badges. Not trade, not piracy, not nationalism, not credits, not mining, not even death.
That said, the theme of this thread is that faction protection should not prevent non native players of the same nation from inflicting damage upon each other. And while I'm not a developer, I can't imagine such a fix taking more than a line of code or two in the comparison. I can accept the magic that protects the new players from their own people. Even if it is a system that is easily bypassed and mediocre at best. As I said though, that I can't kill another Itani in Dau is absurd.

Enough of this FF.
Whats for God's protection? Magic?
Today I (Serco) couldn't make any harm to another Serco in DAU, again..
Btw, there's written on the main page of the game: "There's no safe place in the 'verse." It seems that's wrong. At least I suggest changing description to "Players of one nation can't attack each other in capital systems."

But we can, so long as one of us is native KOS.
Yes, Doc, and if we are both admired or POS to our nation (common situation in VO, btw), capital system is closed for PvP.
Looks like magic.
