Make the Superlight/Widowmaker buyable
Requirements:
Corvus POS
SL mission tree completed
Costs:
SL: 200k
WM: 50k
They're so hard to get right now that nobody is willing to risk one in a fight. Making the crafting mission much easier (e.g. an XC-load of stuff that's buyable in Dau for an SL and WM) would also suffice. The latter might also encourage more trade and piracy, which would be fun.

It already is. You pay in credits and labor.
It's currently too much work: nobody risks them in PVP. They should be valuable, but not too valuable to risk.

They are made exceptionally difficult to get because they are unbalanced compared to the rest of the ships. A well piloted SL can fairly easily take down an X1. Which is the same reason the Biocom/telerwhatthefucksits mines are so difficult to get, and cost a million to reload.
To be fair, I wouldn't mind seeing the SL made easier to get, but 200,000cr is too low.

Fastest ship in the game for 200k? Ya...NO.
The SL is supposed to be a rare racing ship. Make a version more towards combat than racing if you want to fight in it. Keep everything the same other than add 200kgs and another small port, or a smaller version (as in X-1 compared to Vengeance). I'd say 500k, corvus POS, and 10/8/3/-/- (at the very least)

I agree with making the required goods a little smaller in numbers.. But making it buyable I'd say no. The Valk Vigilante is almost as fast as the SL in racing. The IBG is pretty quick too, if you don't feel like getting all the crap for an SL. Whoa, I'm getting off topic, but yah make the requirements less for the SL.
It's only the "fastest" ship for tube racing. The Corvult's combat speed is just as high. The IDF has better thrust to weight. The SL does appear to have the best turbo acceleration, but not by much.
A well-piloted SL can fairly easily take down an X1, true. So can a well-piloted X1 or Skyprom. The SL is good in a dogfight, but not so good as to make up for a significant difference in pilot skill. Few people would beat Maalik one-on-one with the SL, but few people regularly beat Maalik's Corvult one-on-one.

How about instead of your suggestion...we leave it as it is and you can just go fly a different ship!

I like that some items are both valued, and difficult to get. If not the sl and wm, then something else. At this point, I am fine with it the way things are.
If it is not worth it to you to get it and/or use it, then don't.
I have seen sl in use, and I keep wm preloaded and ready for combat.
I am of the opposite opinion. It isn't that the sl and wm should be made easier, but that other competing ships should be made more difficult to obtain, until the sl and wm look more attractive by comparison. How about you have to retake the x-1 mission if you lose one in grey?
