TPG Atlas Type B -- The Blockade Runner Variant
Type B is underused. Here's a buff suggestion which might give it a little more love.
Make the Type B the "Blockade runner" variant. Keep it's cargo, mass, armor, and weapons the same, and give it the following buffs:
225m/s (up from 200m/s, X-Type: 210m/s)
57/s drain (up from 50/s drain, X-Type: 50/s)
500 N turbo thrust (up from 390 N, X-Type: 475 N)
55m/s max non-turbo speed (down from 65m/s, X-Type: 65m/s)
320 N normal thrust (down from 340 N X-Type: 375 N)
9.5 Nm spin torque (down from 10 Nm, X-Type: 12 Nm)
The idea here is that the Type B would be very good at carrying cargo in a straight line over short distances, however, it wouldn't be good for really anything else. Good for blockade running, bad for long-distance running, horrid for combat.
It'd also be a sitting duck while it recharges to go through the WH (fighter cover is most likely a must), but you gotta pay some kinda price for speed that good.
And for a handling comparison: the non-turbo handling of the proposed B-Type would be akin to that of the MKI basic Atlas.

+1 only if you turn the stern turret into a Lport rear facing!

Alright, the more I'm thinking about this idea, the less blockade-running it feels and the more "crap, I gotta get out of here!" it feels (though that is a useful feature). I think it could run a blockade with fighter cover, but at that point why not just use a taur or the like...
Basically, this is a concept idea for a trade ship which can haul ass, yet isn't unbalanced. Hopefully it'll engender some interesting spin-off ideas.
Unless some traders come in here and say they'd use it, I'll give this guy a DOA stamp.
Fuck it. I want more ships that can sprint.

The Atlas X is already an obnoxiously effective blockade runner. There's no way a cargo ship should move that fast.
Yes, the Atlas X is already good enough at blockade running (as stated in the last thread). I would love to see more sprinting ships more than the next guy, but this is simply unnecessary and wouldn't be used. Let this thread die.
Give XX a ship with these speed/maneuvering stats:
Xang Xi Atlas Type-Y
Mass: 9200kgs
Spin Torque: 9.5Nm
Thrust: 325N
Turbo Thrust: 500N
Turbo Speed: 220m/s
Max speed: 60m/s
55 e/s drain.
Alloh, no rear port.
Give it a cargo of 30cus
