Valks need a bit of a turbo thrust nerf...

No, this is not in relation to any other ship... the Valk is simply the only ship that's not hittable while it turbos up (the small period where a ship starts turboing from -50 to 50 m/s or so starting speed). Its high turbo thrust ratio combined with its max 225 m/s speed simply makes it too easy to run directly from a fight, and ships don't need that to be good intercepters. Hell, compare it to the Hog 2. The hog 2 is one of the best intercepters but quite possibly the easiest ship to hit during its turbo-up period.

I don't, in any way, want the valk to become a lesser ship. This is only to balance dog fights. Hell, I'd be perfectly fine if the valk got another buff in order to balance out this fix (I.E. 70 m/s non-turbo or better spin torque). Believe me, if I did make this thread to bash the valk I'd've said to decrease the damn thing's armor! I'd want that, but that's definitely not what I'm suggesting here, haha, that's just an example of what I'd be suggesting if this was simply a flame thread.

I'd rather nerf armor and keep the thrust. If you nerf the thrust, then there is no combat-ready chase-ship in the game... and chasing is what I do.

edit: if you upped the IBGs thrust and lowered it's turbo to 55m/s to compensate, I'd be there.

Uhhhhh, possibly every fighter in the game? You can chase with vults, centurions, everything. And I'd definitely be fine with a chasing buff (max speed?) for centurions and a turbo drain decrease for all fighters.

Might I also add I would be fine with less turbo drain in exchange for this fix. That is way more important in chasing than thrust, anyways. The thrust here is simply just broken.

heh, right, forgot about max speed. But you really can't chase with everything. I'm not talking about chasing slow-moving haulers, I'm talking about chasing down a corvult or cormaud (not the best examples, but you get the idea. chasing combat ships is difficult enough in a valk).

Moreover... thrust is far more important than you think.

Also considering that catching a person with any particular ship depends on the skills of the people involved as well. Anyone can outrun anything if given enough distance between the two.

False. All ships are hittable when they turbo. Turn autoaim off and aim. (And in your case, Chaakin, perhaps use a higher velocity weapon.. :P)

Obviously you do, not that this is a problem, but you might as well be honest. Hit-and-run is often the only way to compete against superior numbers. The number of pilots a group can field shouldn't be the determining factor in the outcome of a skirmish.

And, though I don't feel like it is needed, if it was to be nerfed, decreasing its armor be effective without ruining its established role.

Also on the point of honesty, pretty much all fighters can successfully run from a fight if they want to.

Disagree. Turbo thrust is the main reason why valks are deadly in group combat. Decrease that and you get... a marauder.

and why should the valk be so overpowered as compared to a cormaud. You just heard a player say he uses a valk to chase a cormaud, and a cormaud is itself a chase ship. make a valk 60 turbo drain and let it keep it's thrust, or give it the same thrust ratio as a cormaud and let it keep it's 55 turbo. which ever.

Uh, no, that would be horrid, this would give the Valk an equal chance of losing to a maud spare armor. No one wants to see the Valk nerfed, how about we nerf the proms thrust then, what do you get? A revenant.

why do you guys complain about ships that are supposed to be fast being fast but then have no qualms with a rags and taurs that go like 200m/s or more with infiboost

Spidey. You are not an argument against the OP, but rather, an argument in favor of the OP. That you can target a Valk while flying an even lighter Valk has little bearing on a comparison of the valk in relation to other ships. Please shut up.

im not sure the valk needs a nerf, but it is over powered. It's basically the best fighter and chaser, the hound outruns in in the very very long haul. I think they should just give the hound a 50% turbo thrust buff
