While I still support this idea, I would like to add that I think NPC's should still retain some sort of identifier. Perhaps down a level in the character info screen. If someone wants to find out if they are interacting with a PC or an NPC, I think they should be able to.

+1. makes things more immersive, while limiting potential confusion.

No, because then one of you fucktards will either whine like this ( http://vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/23131#287714 ) or write a script to do it anyway. There's no good reason to not let people blend into the game environment by attempting to emulate an NPC. I find Gav's unsupported hypothesising about noob reactions entirely useless, but I can do the same thing, just as validly, in the other direction: "Oh, gee, if they think I'm an NPC the behavior won't make them all butt-hurt because it's so totally different if you think it's just the game doing it to you and not a player!"

why are you so freaking obsessed with being incognito? seriously.

edit: lecter, what's the RP benefit to knowing who is a bot? answer: there isn't one. what's the RP benefit of knowing if someone has a bounty? answer: it's pretty obvious. if you can't see it... I can have someone explain it to you.

Not everyone wants to ride around on a white horse and blast trumpets everywhere they go, Atice. It may fit your play style, but those of us who play pirates or black-ops personnel or even traders don't necessarily want anyone else knowing any more about us than what ship we're in and which weapon we're firing at them.

I hear that ladron, but you can't have that at the expense of sanity.

also, what is with you and horses?

What the hell are you talking about? Wrong thread Rear Admiral, I haven't said a single thing about noob reactions in this one.

I don't care where you said it, it's applicable to the point here. Unless you'd care to explain the distinction to the class?

So you're saying that you think the benefits of completely removing any indication that a character is an NPC outweigh the possibilities of abuse? If so, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.
Apr 28, 2010 Dr. Lecter link
No, I'm saying your claims concerning abuse are unsupported horseshit conjecture. Subtle distinction for you, I guess.

So you're not saying anything, is what you're saying. Par for the course I guess.

Your ipse-dixitism is tiring. As I pointed out, your claims of abuse-ability hinge on nature of these vague, wholly hypothetical interactions you posit will occur between false NPCs and "noobs." However, as I said, one can just as easily and reliably invent a narrative where the nature of such interactions is positive, rather than negative.

Either you're really fucking dumb, or you're playing really fucking dumb because you're a lazy piece of shit. Hell, maybe both. In any event, you've added zero weight to the "gee, maybe overall this isn't a good idea" side of the scale.

You're hilarious. Keep it up bud. Your frantic arm waving is bound to impress someone eventually.

I love how you've managed to hit 4 posts in a row that respond to neither my points nor the OP. Keep on truckin'

Have we reached the point where you two end up having a naked romp through the streets of Serco Prime yet?

Anyway, in regards to horses...
