A couple more Raptor suggestions.
1) Make it immune to detection by ion storm extenders
2) Make it undetectable by hive bots outside of 1000m in ion storms

wow, already love that!

First point would be cool. Your second point would require bots actually being affected by radar limiting game mechanics, like storms. Unless they've changed something, they currently can see through storms up to 5000m. If and when that gets fixed, and bots behave properly, then yeah, would be cool.
Hmmph, I thought you were smart Gavan, bots can see you anywhere in a sector, they are part of the program! You can fly so far out of a sector that they wont bother you anymore, but bots always know where you are.
Adding an artificial limit to what bots see could be hard, so maybe long term, but yeah to number 1! I cannot see a reason why not.

Well obviously it wouldn't actually make it so that the bots actually couldn't see you, I imagine the actual mechanics would just be that they would not engage any raptors beyond 1000m.
Oh yeah, and might I add that this should not become an add-on. Marauder with storm extender > Raptor, currently. Makes more sense that stealth features are part of the hull, itself, anyways.

As things stand, a ship's scanner uses radar to determine where other craft are. Ion storms dramatically cut the range of this actively emitting radar, but don't make the sensitivity of the receiver any less.
Storm Radar Extenders are essentially just more powerful radar emitters; they extend the range by pushing out more power. In theory, this power should be detectable by any other ship, so a storm radar extender-equipped ship should flash on and off intermittently in an ion storm. Bots should therefore be more attracted to storm radar equipped ships, not less attracted.
As for what this means for the raptor; it makes an already mediocre ship even worse. Quite frankly, rather than the ungainly raptor I'd much rather take a Corvus marauder with a storm radar occupying one port out in a storm, since it'll easily out-manoeuvre things that the raptor wouldn't.

Wait, what do you want here? You want to... nerf... the raptor? Please... go on. This is new to me and very interesting.
Anyways, I think the idea is that Raptors have a special hull... kind of like a stealth fighter.

Make the raptor a stealth ship? Bots won't engage it unless it gets within 500m, players cannot see it on radar until it is within 500m. I can see many, many uses for something like this, and I don't think it would be hard to add to the game.
Note: It would still be visible to the naked eye, as would its weapons. Later on, firing weapons could negate the stealth, making the raptor visible to radar.
