It would be fun if you were able to check a box and, when you're offline, designate a bot to be spawned with your asterisked name. You'd be able to pick what faction it is, and it would randomly be assigned to the various bots out there (convoy guards, convoy haulers, Deneb war bots, cappies, whatever).

For real kicks, you could keep track of stats on how many people killed "your" bot. I imagine that *Dr. Lecter would have a rather high death count.

When you log back on, the *version of you persists until it docks/dies/whatever it would naturally be doing, and then won't respawn again until after you're offline.

Maybe you could get a prize if you manage to hunt down and kill your *version while that window is open...

am I the only one who doesn't get how this would enhance gameplay? sure, it'd be silly... but I second tosh's point on the confusion.

I think this could be interesting. I'd like to see it in-game just to observe how it would work out in the end. Confusion would be cool, +1.

How would it be more confusing than the occasional *Ecka Estenek we already have, due to current bot naming conventions? I was working on about 6 hours of sleep since last Thursday night, so it could be a pretty bad idea. But it still seems fun to me.
