hrmm, if it was editable in game, I'd get a hound going full speed, then magically increase the mass by a couple million tons to ram things.

Or, I'd use that to my advantage against flares, a key that I hold that makes me insanely heavy, right as the flare explodes.

As for pictures, sure, why not, just have a check box like we have for the chat filter.

A selection of preapproved avatars would be a good way to start. You can allow players to submit avatars for inclusion to help reduce the artwork as well.

wouldn't more avatars be MORE artwork? I'm going to go out on a limb here and figure you ment less artistic work for the devs.

Sure, there should be some sort of pre/postmoderation.
Still, I can't imagine what style and size should be player pictures, here are some images:

It all depends upon presentation. Also, photographs/movie stills are NOT the way to go for avatar pictures. All images are subject to copyright, I'm sure,by the way, but I have no idea who the original rights holders are/were.

Alloh, I speak about roleplay, not about in-game achivements. In-game achivements are already implemented.
Sure, then should be shown in profile as the new pilot achieve it.

This could be accessed as the 'k' info page, a sort of upgrade on interface.

Images are prone to copyright, abuse and exploit problems, so start without. Simply give a default image for each faction or guild.

And pilot mass should be default per faction also. Then smurfs will dominate racing.

You should ask someone who knows, Doc for example.
We shouldn't really worry about avatar-copyrights, because 90% of forums use avatars, why not to use them in the game? They are player submitted images. Avatars are not part of software, but part of player account and player answers for it contents, IMHO.

In fact, why doesn't everyone just go make a facebook account for their vo character(s)?

Look up Chaakin Tockoa on facebook

Anyway, we could always ask the devs to spend the next two years creating a fancy avatar-creator like they have in EVE. That would be a good use of time, right?

^^ That's more of a spoof than a role play page. But yeah, point made.
