Trade capital ship?
What would be nice is a really large capital ship (player controllable!) which could store a LOT of stuff. This could be used to store extra ships, a lot of trade goods, extra weapons, etc. But in exchange for the huge capacity (3000 units?) the ship would be huge, somewhat slow, and probably unarmed. To make up for that, you could set the ship as a temporary home so you could respawn inside it and take one of the ships stored inside out to fight (you would need to stock it with your own ships first, however) And the shielding would be moderate,
The overarching concept here is a large capital ship that, on its own, is defensless. But it would be able to support fighters to defend itself, or serve as a base during a fight, more than just a platform to rearm and repair. The space equivalent of an aircraft carrier, if you will.

go away plz
agreed chaosis.
I would enjoy finding and killing your toy, and making you cry.
Devs, please implement.

I'd much rather have it at near killed, then ransom it's survival and once paid, sell the location to somebody else to stomp on.
I'd buy it from ya, for sure.

Not a good idea. A large ship without ANY turrets ? Come on...

.
the shielding would be moderate
Sounds reasonable.

Nope, the carriers usually have SOME weapons of their own, not just fighters.

Hey. Just so you know, I was serious about my last post. Either pay attention or leave. Player Cappies are already in the works, and rushing it with vague, unhelpful ideas is pointless.
Now, either BE helpful, or go and die to an Orun, ya noob.

Better idea: The defenses would be through support of friendly fighters. It would steadily repair and rearm friendly ships within a small radius (500m?) and it could also give shields to those ships. This would encourage people to form player convoys, as well as give it some function in border fights.
This way traders have a way to make massive profits (and something to spend the money on), people who love to fight can either protect or try to destroy these juicy targets. I think it would be a good way to spice up tradeing and pvp.

Perhaps You should try to be just a *LITTLE* helpful to n00bs, instead of being such a complete "im-so-awesomely-fucking-pr00-veteran-player-and-you-suck-hard-noob" asshole.
If the idea has been proposed already/is already on the way, just say so.

Perhaps you should stop approving such retarded ideas and read the RFC threads to actually know what they're working on.
The idea has been heavily debated, you'd know that if you didn't spend so much time making suggestions that have already been suggested or plain downright retarded and unachievable.

Whoa, stop it right there.

I'm just saying that You could try to be nicer to n00bz, and the general idea itself (except "weaponless") SOUNDS nice.
Perhaps Instead of just moaning just how stupid and n00b somebody is, just give him link to a forum thread explaining the issue or whatever.

do check out the Request for Comment threads (there is a stickied list of them on Suggestions). this guy is in the works.
as for the newb bashing, cut it out. no one thinks better of you just because you know more about a game than some kid who just got here.

I don't think anyone claimed that to be the case, Atice. Most "noob bashing" occurs not when noobs don't know something, but when they make themselves a burden upon the community by refusing to look it up on their own and then polluting our forum with posts based on their own ignorance. This is necessary for our community to maintain a sufficient level of general intelligence to keep a game like this fun. No one is asking you to participate in the noob-correcting process, but sitting up there on your high horse telling all the noobs "it's okay to be a loud, clueless moron with an overgrown sense of entitlement, ignore those who say otherwise" is downright destructive to the game as a whole.

ladron, a "here's where to look. it's there already. use search next time" seems be just as effective as "hey douchebag with a small brain, why didn't you use the search feature? Obviously because you're retarded". Moreover, my way has the added benefit of not turning the playerbase away.
but you know this already, and this thread is probably about to be locked... so w/e.

But without trolls, there would be no fun. If a newb wants to play, then they need to accept that they WILL be trolled at least once if not more.
