Aye, LNH. I agree with Lecter, a decimal.
hhhmmm... and if we try a "tractor beam Beta" for this option?
At stations you can buy tractor beams, (only for large ports,) and cargo containers. Once both attached to your ship you can load/unload the containers as cargo hold, and cannot unequip it when loaded.
From game engine, it is visually identical to a mining beam, and works as a towbar attached to Lport and Container, which can be disabled while in flight. Disconnect crates follows newtonian inertial laws, and have built-in safety device that, if is not reconnected to beam within 10min, it explodes.
Give to every station a crate storage area and we complete the Space Intermodal container.
Interesting... some rats will get satisfied with towed container, others will start the timer and continue pursuit...

Bump (it's less than a year old)
I also like the idea of buying cargo containers for spare ports. Considering that early on, the only thing you can put in a large port is a missile launcher (not even a mining beam?), which can't be your only weapon, so it's not even clear that it's worth it (yet); an extra cargo container seems far more valuable given the abundance of bulk cargo missions.

If you take the mining tutorial, you get mining license 1. It unlocks a large port Mining Beam.
