If you stay in an Escort's cappy for the whole sector, you don't count as being "with the convoy"

Per Alloh's idea. An attempt to fix one of two potential exploits that deal with escorts. The other fix thread is here.

Another possible fix (either in addition to the one above or separate) is charging for docking privs (say, 50k for 5 minutes or some such. Those numbers are really rough).

/me reads Alloh's idea...
/me is floored by how incredibly good Alloh's idea is.
/me starts looking for Rod Serling.

+∞ for Alloh's idea.

I like the centurion idea.

Atice posted it.... is it really Alloh's idea anymore ? :P

+1 - one of the better ways to fix the exploit I have seen suggested

ok, feel free to shoot me down, cause you will. Why is this an exploit? other than pierats can't shoot people? I know, I know, if everyone rides in a cappy all the time no one sees anyone.... BUT do we care? cause honestly are the people making these suggestions people who actually do escort missions or the people who take the mission abort it and then shoot the voy? In most cases if the voy gets stuck in a ion storm the only way to stay with the voy is to stay in the cappy, since most of the time they seem to have their own special jump point thats thousands of meters from where I can jump (Different thread). Besides it's such a dice roll when it comes to how much you get paid. Sorry if I don't want to follow a voy across 4 systems and 5 ion storms for 20000 credits, I'd rather just ride.

It's just that it doesn't really make sense to get paid to man a gun slot which is already manned. I mean, maybe you should just get paid less for those times you stay in the cappy?

It's not necessarily moving goods that is the exploit... it's just that you should probably be paying for the free ride rather than getting paid for it.

From the moment I posted the idea, it belongs to VO community to use it at will.

But I still prefer restrict docking space in a capship, so it makes any sense on making convoy. As is now, the logical move is all convoy, specially cargo ships, dock with capship...

Why is this an exploit?

Because I can dock an XC full of corvus holo discs in the connie in Odia, and then go have a beer while the voy takes me up to Itan. I get there without doing anything or taking any risk, and get paid 880,000 credits for "escorting." When I get back from having my beer, I sell my holo discs, which I was able to have moved for me in total safety. It's not a dice roll on how much I get paid, because there are these great things called "cargo scanners."

Any other fucking questions, half-wit?

Lecter, let's keep the lambasting to a minimum (especially as you're guilty of exploiting other escort 'features').

Thoughts on the OP?

By your logic, anyone who has ever taken an escort mission is guilty of exploiting their retardedly stupid implementation. I'm fine with that, but you might want to think twice before shooting your mouth off, since what you said is obviously not what you meant.

My thoughts on the OP can be found here: http://vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/22585#280482 . Of course, the Devs have been aware of the idea for 3 months and did two things with it, the first of which was jack.

That is distinctly your logic, not mine. I was referencing the "let's kill this cappy with faction turrets" exploit, as you well knew.

Glad you like the OP. Here's to hoping we get the fix.

how bout just requiring a player to actually be in something that can in some way be considered a combat ship be able to take a convoy mission...IE if you take the mission and undock in an XC your kicked from the damn mission (as you obviously arent escorting SHIT) To keep fully loaded taurs and the like (which have a much lower profit margin) from just riding the cappie the whole way, make the payout actually dependant on the percentage of ships which actually survive the goddamn trip. That is, if 10 % of the cargo is lost... you get paid 10% less.... This makes an incentive for a player to actually protect the voy... attempt to stay with it as much as possible.... And means theres a penalty if you sit in the cappie and dont do crap while lecter blows up all the moths. If you happen to make it all the way through in the turret... good for you..means you would have made it all the way through with every ship if you were flying ANYTHING. IRL combat escorts..sometimes....there just isnt combat.. you still get paid for doing the job though.
