Conquerable Station in I8
Several have mentioned the lack of benefits to owning the station in I8 so I thought perhaps we could come up with some suggestions that would provide tangible benefits to actually owning the station.
My suggestion would be to create a few unique ships and weapons that a player could only own one or two at a time.
A good place to start would be a decent 2L port raptor version that would be good in pvp.
A unique wraith varient with better top speed and improved strafing might also be worth a look.
Annihilator2 with a grid of 10 and a bit more speed would be a great heavy weapon.
A version of the gemini missle with 50 percent extra damage and extra speed might be fun.
A unique flare perhaps could be worked.
A slow high damage torpedoe would be interesting.
An HD mining beam with a lower heat factor and a grid of 7 would go well for the miners.
An xc with double armor would appeal to the traders.
A centuar with 60 cargo and a higher cruising speed would also be interesting.
A unique Hive mission is worth exploring - perhaps a unique levi with beefed up stats and a great drop...

change 2l to 2L so that it doesn't look like 21.
I'd say the sector should have some high-value roids packed with helio and the like.
It already provides free repairs and ammo, so that's already a pretty high incentive for owning the station.
I dislike the idea of having the station create special items/ships, as such things are easily worked around via stockpiling etc.

The point was that you would not be allowed to own more then 1 or two so the only way to replenish them would be to own the station.
Why not simply make it the same as the mines it currently produces? 1 per day
1 per day is not all that usefull when your going thru 20 ships an hour.... and 1 per day could be stockpiled.
Only owning one at a time would probably require a lot of dev work (and player work as well as you can't buy ships there) as the necessary code probably doesn't exist.
However, turning the roids into profit machines is probably easy to accomplish, and would create an interesting dynamic/incentive for Traders to take part in the fight (there are also plenty of pirates with mining badges too, so it's not a one-sided thing).

So it would be a good spot for one of the new Ores the devs have planned....That would be a good benefit for the miners.
The Pvp'ers and traders also need a decent benefit as well...
Trade Ships hang around for a long time if your carefull with them but a decent high profit commodity might be worth considering as long as it is not too unbalanced.
If the feature is worthwhile then adding the code is not really an issue in my opinion. A six pack and a pizza will get most routines finished rather quickly (hehehe).

These goodies could be available at the rate of say 20 per day divided by the number of keys made. This way a large group of conquerers dilutes the benefit of owning the station, encouraging individual factions to fight for the station.
