Hardware cursor in station UI and menus

Mar 14, 2010 Vermind link
Hello,
I am running VO on an EEE PC 901 on Linux,
and regardless of "the show station in menus" option,
the mouse is choppy. Perhaps the game could use the mouse in a "hardware cursor" fashion, so that it would be drawn by the system. In the station UI, tracking the pointer position should not be necessary, since only clicks matter there. In-game out of menus, of course the mouse must be tracked to make it direct the ship.

That'd be nice. Even at 30fps it still feels kind of sluggish.

Hmm. I haven't noticed this issue on my Pine Trail based Aspire One (albeit with Windows 7 Starter). It may be possible for us to do this, but it requires platform-specific code for each case, which adds to maintenance overhead for a given platform.

Hi,
the slowness problem has solved itself along with the memory problem I described here:

the key seems to be tfactor_hack=1.

Well. That's.. good, I guess? I don't even remember what that does. It's something old. It might even be a Rage128 workaround. I've emailed Ray about it. We'll look into it.
