Strategic / tactical warfare in deneb
Based on a commanding badge level (number of skirmishes won) player gets the aptitude to give commands to the AI of capital ships composing the group, in order to make the issue of the battle less random.
Commands would be such as
protect my target
ignore my target
disable my target
destroy my target.
And you need to be flying your ship to be able to send those commands (no hitch hiking in a cappie until you own one :p)
First commanding level allows you to give orders to trident vessels only (number of them to be defined)
and within the following levels player gets in charge of terradons and then heavy assault cruiser.
Could be nice if the player at the final level could see all battle groups in the sector cappies, bombers and fighters as well.
Players skirmish rank should determine the chain of command for the sector in case of player teams and define available officer roles in the battle.

Adapting to VO's engine, that also could be achived using tree missions. Quite possible...
Can also fork into fighter and bomber sub-trees, each allowing reach a mission where you command a capship.
rg10/Karman made a mission called Trident Rental. Seems to me that it could easily be adapted to BS, making the cappie bound to a sector would override all caveats/exployts raised...
more ideas?
