Turret View and More
I suggest player controlled turrets should have the rolling movement feature added (can you add this to 3rd person camera mode too?) and the view to be independent of the ship it is attached to, basically turret stabilization.
We could add rolling, I guess. But I'm not sure what you mean by "the view be independent of the ship it is attached to"? The limited firing view of the turret, and the turret being moved as the hull of the ship moves, are pretty inherent to.. turrets.
What I mean is for a turret to be looking in the same direction in the same orientation while the ship is rolling. Of course this would apply to rear mounted turrets centered on the ship's rolling axis.
EDIT: The issue right now, to me, is that turrets spin with the ship and what that does for center rear mounted turrets is roll the view making the view 'dizzy'. Unlike other turrets that change views overall when the ship rolls.

Oddly, I agree with surb on this. The major factor limiting turret use (besides the obvious lack of variety in available turret weapons) is that it's really hard to compensate for ship movement when manning a turret. It's not so much a problem with a cap ship turret, but aiming in an Atlas turret is near impossible. Giving the turret frictionless orientation would make using one much easier. Think of it like a gimbal. When an object mounted on a gimbal moves the other end retains it's orientation and vice versus. Turrets should work in a similar manner.

And for Impavid comments, I dream that you could equip almost any gun on a turret, and two types of turret only: stabilized or not. But this is more far...
Allow to Use my own turret to any gun on a stabilized turrets and turrets will be great! And for a flak gun, equip flares!

Bah, quit thread high-jacking Alloh. Anyway, implementing a turret 'stabilization' type thing is a big plus I think. Make it make it act kinda like mouselook if I'm in a big heavy ship and someone spins me around, the view stays in place while the ship spins...
