I kinda like the idea of having the wormhole choke points. As such I do not see the interesting thing in having something that can bypass it.

I do see the interesting idea of covert/black ops missions, but feel it would be more elegantly covered by some kind of cloaking/stealth/forgery, you name it. Make it a one-shot item that is consumed after use. That way you can foil the first layer of defence but not go all the way into the capitol systems and wreak havoc on a regular basis.

So, yeah to the RP/gameplay idea, no thank you to the device
