The Ion storms would be a touch better if they transitioned over a longer period of time. They go from clear to storm in a matter of seconds. I was thinking it would be a lot better if they changed over a few minutes with darkening and ions gradually added....
How often are you in a sector when a storm starts or ends? I think that's happened to me once ever.
Not to say that the idea is a bad one. A gentler transition would be more authentic feeling, if you happened to be sitting in a storm sector watching. But I don't think anyone would ever really notice.

It depends on whether you seek out storms. Hive Skirmish missions in stormed-in sectors yield higher rewards, and thus I have often witnessed the last gales of ion storms.
PaKettle's idea holds merit, in my opinion.

If it's easy, do it. If it isn't, put it at the bottom of the list.
I agree the idea has merit.

Often. Once a day, or more.

I have witnessed over a dozen transitions...
It is the differance between a static world and a fully dynamic one that feels alive. I will be the first to admit it is not a high priority item, just a nice finishing touch.
BTW the transistion can safely be skipped if noone is in the sector at the time.

No, believable NPC traders, military patrols, pirate clans, and other unknown pilots flying around the universe are the difference interacting with players in a fully dynamic, balanced economy which is driven by player actions rather than NPC ones is the difference between a static world and a fully dynamic one that feels alive. I'll give you an E for Effort though.

Quit trolling ladron....
Quit astronomically overstating your points PaKettle...
Smooth transitions for storms would be a nice touch, but to say that they are the difference between a static world and a fully dynamic one that feels alive is absolutely preposterous.
