Seriously, how is it that you all devs manage to implement so much horribly buggy borked shit? I don't even have to think to break something, and as we all know I've discovered a whole lot of bork.
Tonight I lost 14 ships to retardedly overpowered turrets and once to growler and strat and when we finally (all 5 of us against 2 worthless vipers) destroyed the last turret the turnover mechanic didn't work and so it was all for nothing. NOT to mention that 5 of us against 1.2 of the (sorry growler you're only worth .6 of a real pilot) REAL PLAYER PILOTS should have been enough to overcome the station defenses, but once we got past the ridiculous and repetitive turret warp kills and beat the turrets NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENED.
I'm all for progress, but come ON, you can't implement ONE THING that works the first time?!

Careful bout drinking and posting, mate. They do that so we can test it, and I wouldn't have it any other way even if it's frustrating to put a lot of work into nothing because of a bug.
I'm not paying to beta test stupid shit over and over and over and over.
Also, I'm not drunk. Not even close.

I can not agree with the OP's view, and I do not think it was a good idea to post what he posted in the way he posted it.

No one ever said the stations were even remotely close to finished - If you dont want to be bothered by the bugs then go elsewhere.Oh and since your a lawyer I will explain that all software contains bugs.....
I for one am glad to see the devs working on getting this mechanic into play. It moves us closer to Cappies and adds to the endgame greatly.

lecters a lawyer you idiot not tumble. ugh w/e im staying out of this thread
I apologise Impavid - I did not mean to refer to you as a low life scumbag idiot. It was rather late and I was half asleep. I should have refered to you as a troll instead.
Thank you Peytros for the correction - Please accept this biscuit as a reward.

Can someone lock this thread? This idiot is whining about a VERY BETA FEATURE that was put in game for TESTING. He's getting upset because he lost 14 ships. Boo-fucking-woo. Grow a pair, Impavid.
and don't post angry.

Impavid: If you weren't drunk you were acting like it. Yelling and throwing shit around isn't going to accomplish anything.
That being said, there is a certain threshold of completeness any new feature should have before being put in the production server. I thought it was a bad idea to drop stations into the game when they were, because I foresaw the kind of chronic breakage we're experiencing now. It isn't anyone's fault per se that it's buggy, that's just what happens when you rush new code into production before it's been adequately bug-tested or even really finished.
We have a test server precisely so that things like station conquest can be playtested to some extent, and brought to some level of completeness, before plopping them into the production server.
I recommend pulling the conquerable station completely out of the production for now. Once the devs have something that can be considered complete in some way, let the PCC test it on the testing server for a week or two to continue to work out the kinks, and then put it in production.

who says it has to accomplish anything? I sure feel better. It would be one thing if this were isolated, but every new "feature" that lands in this game is full of bugs and exploits back as far as I can remember. The PCC and test server were put in place to create more content and allow for TESTING of said content before it went to production. That process is obviously full of bugs too.
The ONE THING this game has going for it over the bigger MMOs out there is it's a SKILL GAME and better pilots win more often than not. It's extremely disappointing to have chronically broken game mechanics thwart an organized and skilled group's efforts against an inferior foe. If you're better you should win most of the time. That goes completely out the window when you win and the borked game takes that victory away from you.

Why free software win? First reason is its quality, which is achived throught some principles, and one major is:
> RELEASE EARLY, RELEASE OFTEN.
If Devs said: "There it is, station is ready", you could complain. Since they said it is being developed, if you don't want to test and bug it out, KEEP AWAY. Ignore Latos I8.
Given enough eyes, all errors are trivial. Linus Law. If you test with 5 persons, certainly errors will escape. When you open testing/development to a wide audience, it evolves faster and produces better results! That is the power of community.
So, Impavid: STOP WHINING.
Devs, great work! Please continue including stuff into game, and evolving them as you are doing.

Alloh: please go away. You have no idea what you're talking about, and we're trying to have a serious discussion here.
Impavid: The purpose of posting a suggestion in the suggestions forum is presumably to "accomplish something", which generally involves getting the suggestion implemented. Your core suggestion is a good one, but your excessively whiny wording detracts from its merit.

Yeah but I don't actually care how it sounds.

How do you figure? He's talking about the fact that the devs released this station conquering mechanic to the general public in order to have a faster and more realistic testing solution. If they simply released it on the test server, fewer people would be available to test it, and more bugs would get through.
Seems pretty relevant to the conversation taking place.
I'm surprised you've not yet managed to learn Allohese. :P

More than what? Since there was absolutely no testing done before the station was put into production, 100% of the bugs got through, including many obvious ones that would have been discovered by even a single person exploring them on the testing server. I hate to break it to you, but you're just plain wrong.

Sorry, I should have said "would have taken longer to work the bugs out". That's actually what I think he was getting at anyway. Allohese translation fail.
This is another example of the "soul draining" posts mentioned earlier. We all beg for features, and many of us go so far as to ask that things be released to production unfinished. The devs work their asses off and release something into production with a caveat that the feature is incomplete, and then all this happens. If the community in general dislikes releases of this type, perhaps we could bypass the "pitching a nutty" stage and just say that we prefer that things are more complete before release to the production server. They've already explained how things can behave differently on the Test server, by the way.
For my money, I'm happy to have the opportunity to try out new stuff and to try to break it. If the change had impacted the whole game and made it unplayable, I might be annoyed about paying. In this case, one can choose not to interact with the new feature.

Actually, the station and turrets are probably at the point where they need play-testing for balance... and that's what there is right now. A lot of balancing. Though... of course, it helps when the conquest mechanic works correctly.
Tumble, enough.
Alloh, you need to be beaten with a smart-stick.
