Event Idea: "Pirate Stronghold Exposed"

This Dev-led event would pit guilded pirates against everyone else. The setting would be the sector with the huge split asteroid. Wedged inside would be several Corvus Constellations. They would be configures to fire on any pilot without a pirate guild tag. The object for the non-pirates is to destroy the caps ships and collect the loot. (Corvus Textiles, Sedina Chocolates, Corvus Holodisks, etc). The event starts with a series of messages on 100 confirming the location of this pirate stronghold. The Constellations will appear within the asteroid, and pilots converge for a furball / bombing campaign. Then a message: "Corvus reinforcement convoy departing Sedina D14." This escort sized convoy will deliver more loot to the center of the split asteroid, dropping it as cargo boxes there. Pirates will want to protect this convoy and collect the loot in the stronghold sector. These convoys continue every few minutes until the Corvus Constellations are destroyed and the event is over.

This event is designed to be simple in terms of NPC numbers to allow players with older computers reasonable FPS. Both pirates and non-pirates should be amply rewarded in the event. Setting Constellation hostility based on pirate guild affiliation may require extra Dev time.

Not sure they can get connies to spawn in there.

That might be tough to wedge the connies into that 'roid, but overall I like the event idea.

Could you suggest an alternate confined space that might better accommodate a couple of connies?

Ugh. Levi sectors kill my comp... of course, I can almost never attend events so maybe that doesn't matter.

Just put it inside a big (wide ranging) roid field.

Wait, wait, wait. The pirates would be protecting the Connies full of precious loot while the non-pirates attack and salvage them? You've got yer roles mixed up, mate... I'd do it the same way but, instead, I'd have the Constellations be "broken down" in the sector and they would shoot everyone with a pirate tag. The non-pirates would guard the connies for a set amount of time until they can "make repairs" and escape to finish their delivery. All the while, of course, pirates are warping in and trying to destroy the connies to steal the cargo.

Hell, that should be a regular happening with all connie/trident convoys. Anyways, might be fun.

Problem 1: More pirates than "knights"...

Problem 2: IFF via clan tag. And those unaffilliated?

Maybe mix 2 ideas:
-Huge stolen cargo depot found, with X crates inside a cave on roid. The ITC creates a recovery convoy. Pirates are called to prevent it.

Event-only Group Missions:
--------------------------
GRAY) Defend our deposit on [Sec1] from ITC's convoy now at [ITC-Conv-Location]. Also guard our small convoy sent to relocated it, now at [Gray-Conv-Location]

NATIONS) ITC requires escorts, bombers and haulers to recover huge cargo from pirate deposit at [Sec1]. Join our convoy at [ITC-Conv-Location]. Do not let any hostile cargo ship leave the area!

That way the nations/[ITC convoy] can be moved, destroyed, respawned, rebalanced, etc, while players knows where it is.

Also, the mission ends when all cargo is moved away either by NPC [Gray Convoy] or [ITC Convoy]. Both sides have to use smaller ships to pick up crates and deliver to a capship.

Mission is {Deliver N goods(RatCrate) to [CapShip-(I,G)]}

pirates defending connies? is this a joke? I like the idea of pirates attacking the connies better but the guild thing would have to go or else it would be like 8 CHRN versus 70 non pirates and there are several non guilded pirates

That's the idea, peytros. They can't beat us any other way, so they have to set up an event to pit the entire population against us.

I think it would be a great fight. In the dark convoy event, pirates were a strong force. There is strong motivation for pirates to defend their connies: as long as they survive, Corvus convoys will deliver valuable Corvus goods to the pirates.

There's a stronger force driving us to pop 'em and take the loot for ourselves, mate. That's what makes us pirates, we aren't nationalist combat pilots. The way you have the event set up in the master post just won't work.

I have to agree with Shank.
Corvus are criminals and all pirates are criminals... but, not all criminals are pirates.
