pavan it isnt the discussion of it being powerfull it is the discussion of it being not nice.

issuing is used to circumvent seeing the destroyed by comment. and the people who use it will gladly take those disadvantages in account because they used it because they knew that they were going to be dead"and would hav ehad those disadvantages no matter what". Now due to them eploding they have a chance of taking along their aggressor. This benefit has got to have a slight disadvantage for the suicider and that is why I proposed the 1 weapon port less or some hull or ...

cheers

Would anyone actually sacrifice a weapon port just so they had the option of "blowing themselves up?" Imho, this isn't really much of an advantage. Annoying, to be sure, but I agree with Pavan that the problem will work iself out when whatever penalties are associated with death are instituted. You never "know for sure" that you are going to die. I myself keep on fighting until the very end or at least make a run for it. If other people would rather issue, I say give them that option, even though I may not agree with it.

However, a score cut for issuing would be a good idea.

Yes phaserlight I would , If I knew that the pirate that was following would be taken out by the explosion htat followed, I would do it gladly and would even be willing to sacrifice 2 -3 weaponports for it :D.

Besides, if you look at other games, then you can make a suicide ship, but mostly that ship hasnt even got any other purpose."So for the advantage of blowing themselves up they sacrifice all weaponports". In my opinion, sacrificing one weaponport isnt much then. And at the same time you will see a lot less of these tactics.

And the people who do use it, will now have a disadvantage against the people who dont use it. Think about it, it is going to be an rpg. So every "gizmo" will allow you to do certain things and at the same time limiting other things.

PS: I dont necessarily said it should be weaponports, 2 k less on hull would be nice to, its just to get the notion of sacrificing soemthing to get a perk into the game.

I don't know why we should be worried about score anyway.

Does anyone honestly feel that score will still be around by 4.0?

We need something to differentiat the people that have been playing since 3.0 from those who just joined, right now those that just joined have a higher score then me.

Score is just the number of bots you can kill.

We need something that limits technologies avalible to you, it won't make you über powerful by any means, it just gives you the edge in a certain feild of expertise.

How about this, all ships have a standard self-destruct system. Blows you up, does the damage of 4 or 5 sunflares in the explosion's radius, and leaves cargo lying around.

If you want, you can upgrade this for a price. Sacrafice a weapon port or hull points or even agility, makes a much bigger explosion like 4 or 5 Jackhammers and destroys all your cargo.

me likes that pavalan, especially the second part :D

But you have to tune down the power fo the sunnies hten :D

me imagines a suiciding bus using all his rockets and then doing /explode. me is frightened now :(

Make certain ships only able to hold xyz of engine and battery, a bus can't take anything above light engine\battery, fighters can take blah blah blah...

Then, when a ship dies, you don't want to be next to it.
If a ship has heavy\heavy, it'll do 12000 damage over the blast radius of an avalon.

Increase the cost of engines and batteries, right now it's better to just wait to upgrade instead of grab what you can.

Here is my idea:
Engines damage upon death:
Free-2000
light-2500
efficient-2000
medium-3000
heavy-5000
Batteries upon death:
Free-3000
light-4000
medium-5000
heavy-7000
fast charge-3000

Keep in mind, batteries store TONS of energy to be used, so they aren't going to go down quietly when they are destroyed. Engines are using energy so they won't do as much damage as a battery.

I would imagine any space-faring civilization would make their shipyards put failsafes on their engines to avoid having massive explosions whenever there is a spacecraft crash.
